Right, he won't be able to provide that if he's sitting on the bench. Don't get me wrong here, I don't like Juwan a lot, but to see him not play last night was not right at all.

On the court, he is not able to provide offense in any way that doesn't hurt the team.

On the court, he is not able to provide defense or rebounding, period.

This is what the evidence tells us.

if we're goign to have a one-dimensional, mediocre PF, better one that is stationed on the 3 point line than on the baseline. That's a simple fact of life.

I would rather have Rudy Gay than Battier (based on very early returns), but I would rather have Battier/Padgett/Novak/Hayes than Howard, who is a complete disaster.

Howard sucks. Only thing JVG did right. Him on the court brings only negative things to the team.

The evidence or stats shows that Howard is more efficient than Padgett.

So based from this stat to win we need these guys to play:

    Yao +12.5
    Tmac +8.4
    Head +2.1
    Hayes +6.9
    Baxter +.9

Correct and because Yao/Tmac didn't play the majority of games, we ended up in the lottery.

If ya'll read my thread about Billy's welcome to Houston party you would of clearly seen where I talked to Morey last Friday night and he said "Juwan was not going to play much this year"

    Rotation

    same starting five

    6. Wells
    7. Hayes
    8. Head (unless Billy wins that spot at some point)
    9. Novak (unless he is inconsistant than Scott P)

Deke will get some time vs true centers

Sura WILL be a rotation player ahead of Billy and Head if he comes back

Lucus will not play Juwan most likley will not play

Hayes was gonna stop Boozer how?

Offense wasn't our problem. We put up 97 points. The problem was that we gave up 107.

Hayes would likely do a better job on Boozer than Howard. Look at the play by plays, Hayes held Boozer to a single field goal while he was in the game for several minutes in the second quarter, and also forced him into a turnover on one possession.

Even Van Gundy has touted him as our best post defender; finally publicly recognizing in the summer what many of us had said last Spring. Criticize Hayes all you want, but the one thing you can't take away from him is his defense. He's solid on that end, and always has been.

Howard is at your local Sunglass hut.

Forget Howard. JVG has been instructed by Morey not to play that scrub.

If Rockets are gonna end up relying on Howard to bail them out, especially with the talent they have on this team, it tells you something about the job coaching staff is doing.

People WANT Juwan to play now?

I actually slept better last night knowing that I will be seeing little or no Juwan Howard this season.

We didn't lose because of Howard, or Padgett. We lost because T-Mac and Yao didn't dominate.

I think we're all finally seeing what Howard brings to the team-- a veteran who can score, inside or on the perimeter, and who rebounds well and can defensively hold his own. I want to know why he didnt play as well because our lack of rebounding and containment inside would kind of imply that we should give some minutes to a guy who's given 11/6 consistently the past 2 years.

i like juward, i really think he is underrated for his performances, we should remember when Yao n T-Mac were out last season, it is Juward stood out for Rockets (though he didn't manage to get as much victory as he wanted), i don't see any problem playing Juward at all n hope Rockets would not trade him

For the record.... I've never bashed Howard.... not badly enough to remember anyway.

Despite the statistical analysis pointing to the poor performance of the team with him on the court, I always thought that 2 years ago the offense worked significantly better when he was playing well. I thought his jump shot provided a much needed skill that no one else on the team had at the time. When Howard shot and rebounded well, the team did well. Not having him against Dallas was a major blow at the time.

I'm all for trying out different players and combinations to get results, but certainly last night it wouldn't have hurt the team to give him 10 minutes. I see Howard as a decent bench player, who can be a competant defender in some matchups. Especially if he can be convinced to play a role with high intensity for a short time.
