Well, I did get arrested as a dissident in Belarus, so I guess I can always claim persecution and the refugee status... As for the country itself, it's all about perspective. If you keep an open mind and keep politics out of it, Belarus is an absolutely beautiful country, with nice rolling hills and lush forests. The people are also among the nicest and most polite people you'll ever meet (generalization). If you want to see nice skylines, this probably isn't the country for you. But if you enjoy a good life, hiking/outdoor activities, it ain't bad.
