that's why i said somewhere in the mix of those 3. i have to differ with you that Parsons is better than Gay, but we'll agree to disagree.

For the sake of discussion, if I feel like a player is about equal I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and rank the Rocket higher and ignore potential
Lin- 14th (Chris Paul, Westbrook, Rondo, Curry, Parker, Kyrie Irving, Holiday, Lawson, Williams, John Wall, Derrick Rose, Dragic, Lowry).

    Harden- 1st

Parsons- 11th (LeBron, Durant, Melo, Gay, Paul George, Deng, Pierce, Iggy, Gallinari, Marion)

Greg Smith- No point in doing. There are probably over 30 PFs who are better.

Asik- 10th (Howard, Duncan, Marc, Noah, Hibbert, LARRY SANDERS!, Horford, Cousins, Jefferson)

Admittedly, this list is kind of hastily down.

without having the advanced defensive stats in front of me I would say Parsons is a substantially better offensive player... also is a leader on the team.

Speaking strictly from offense I think it be tougher to reason that parsons was better then hayward then batum ... seems pretty clear cut.

Plays less minutes, makes more points on much better FG% and better 3p%

Parsons is on Batum's level in my opinion.

He is a perfect role player (kind of like Battier) and he is the optimal piece you want to surround your stars with.

offensively hes better...id love to see the advanced defensive statistics if anyone has them....

I think that is the only way batum could trump parsons.

Batum is an elite defender. Parsons gets lit up like a Christmas tree at least twice a week.

Yup.. if he is your second banana you are playoff fodder... but if he is your third or fourth player you can do some major damage.

What I like about Parsons is that he is very adaptable. If we get another superstar his defense will tighten up when his shots fall, and he will help the team in other ways. His effectiveness is not tied to shooting the ball 20 times a game. Further, Parsons can play the stretch 4 in many situations and has become a good three point shooter.

I would obviously trade him for an elite player, but that isnt likely. Would be better served building around Parsons with another star and depth.

Paying attention to only 'box scores' leads you to be deceived. Batum and Parsons stats are near identical, but this disregards the injuries Batum has played through.

no batum is playing to almost his I dentical careere averages ...actually increased points a bit... not sure how you can say injuries have affected him... Its not like hes down from last year.

Parsons Plays less...makes more points and does it with a MUCH better FG%

box score...or no... only case you can make is on defensive side. Parsons has been a pro for a shorter time as well. Batum should be substantially better this year if they were close in ranking because of experience alone.

    Durant over James?

You could argue with me that Pierce, Deng and Gallinari are not better and I'd listen. So he's in the 6-9 range if you ask me.[/QUOTE]

so looks like all the offensive stats are still in parsons favor including batum turns over the ball a lot more.

They actually have the EXACT defensive rating.... you guys are weird. There is nothing in the stats that indicate batum is better.

this list here indicates how hard it is to score against this posistion on defense and houston ranks above portland...thats not player for player but he plays a lot of those minutes and we know delfino blows on D

Parsons has more offensive win shares, the same defensive win shares.

So batum being better defender is crap. He just blocks more shots.
