what about when it's 1 AM, and you're cruising pajamasmedia/washington times/freerepublic etc for the next day's BBS firebombing.

Do you know where your children are?

I agree Basso's posting style leaves a lot to be desired but that doesn't mean by extension his family life is fair game. I've said this before but it is disturbing how often a heated political discussion will be personalized and ones political opinions will be used to criticize one's family.

I don't usually call for a thread to be locked but this one should be. While I don't agree with Basso politically and find his posts often annoying that is no reason why I should question how he raises his family.

Also good post Deckard, Arno-ed, and Langal.

Yeah, well, what do I know. I must be a bad parent, too. For a year and a half I had a nanny for my kids. I left at 9:15 (on a good day) in the morning and got home at 5:15. Now my kids go to preschool and I have the same schedule. Did I go from being a bad parent to a good one? Or is it as Deckard suggests and people are saying even preschool is bad?

Also, I forgot to mention - my kids are mixed. It really bothers my wife when my son says that he is white (he is 3 1/2) or says that he doesn't want to be dark like mommy. It is a recent thing and could be because of school...I am not sure. None of his cousins are white, his nanny was black, and his school is mixed but he is probably around the most white kids ever in his life. Who knows, kids are goofy and they don't understand/mean all the things they say.

I was being totally sarcastic in my post. I can't imagine anything offensive in what you typed. That's why I poked fun at it.

That's why I said I disagreed with making fun of his parenting skills. But it shouldn't surprise him since he has gone personal against posters, and lied about them so much in his own posts.

basso's taken digs at my girlfriend (implying she wasn't real, was ugly or was a man), said I wanted babies to die, said I hate special needs kids (my brother is one; I don't), said I want American soldiers to die and all kinds of other over the line lies.

I'm not going to stop posting here just because of an ******* troll. He should have been banned years ago. Since he hasn't been, I will call him an ******* when I feel like it. It's nowhere near as libelous as the stuff he's invented about me.

Maybe you should get a clue before you post.

Alas...civility is dead in the D&D.

This thread is further proof. Regardless of who 'started it"

    Sad.

    (nicely said Arno).

Yes, I'll be sure to keep up to date on the personal in-fighting going on in the D&D. It sounds like a worthwhile use of my time. That way when I occasionally come in here to read the latest political commentary and only end up finding personal insults, I'll at least understand the history behind the name calling and textual abuse.

No, no, Blade - I understood. I was just using you to comment further after more people decided to jump on the guy with a nanny.

Sorry, I should have made that more clear.

It would be cool at least if you didn't take swipes at the guy committing the makeup foul.

It's not that difficult to keep up with basso's trolling history. 99% of the board wishes he would leave.

A more appropriate response might have been:

"Wow, I had no idea he had said so many indefensible things. What a jerk. Sorry to overreact to a relatively minor infraction like calling him an *******."

I think there's a difference between ignorant innocence and racism.

You child is not actually trying demean others.

Some snotty 6 year old boy pulling "slanty-eye" on my daughter is a completely different ballpark. That kid deserves a spanking. My daughter should punch him in the nose.

No, I'm not kidding. And again, I'm not talking about the bassos specifically but the type of parent who's only role as a parent is to share her DNA and last name with her kid. In this sense giving life is really taking life for a purpose: maybe to give your own life meaning or to acheive some social end (e.g. to hold it against those who do not have children, as basso has actually done in this thread).

Southern California? LA area is chopped up into different ethnic/class enclaves when you really think about it. OC can be staunchly Republican.

Letting kids watch Glenn Beck or similar "news commentary" is a form of child abuse.

Oh I'm not OC. Brad Sherman is my congressman so it's a pretty Democrat-heavy area.

Basso is who he is and I am who I am. It would say more about me if I went after personally just because I disagreed with his politics than it does about him.

Who went after him personally because of his politics? If you're talking about me, you have it backwards. He's the one that's made personal attacks on me because of my politics. And they've been lies to boot. All I've done is call him an ******* for doing it.

Actually it says a lot about you that you don't get that.
