That is correct. The Sonic/Thunder were below .500 for several years. That was by choice.

That to me is the biggest problem with the current system. Unless you have a superb front office (Spurs), a boatload of money (Mavericls) that can build around a guy really quickly or you're the Knicks, Celtics, or Lakers- you have to rely on being terrible for several years (Thunder method) or hope that you can sway a superstar to play with your guy(Houston, Heat, Clippers etc.) Otherwise, you're stuck being the Magic (endless cycles of being the top 3 or 4 team and rebuilding) or the Hawks (endless mediocrity).

You guys don't know anything about Davis, these statements show it. He had a very strict role at Kentucky(like all their guys) and didn't show his offensive arsenal. Was PG most of his life, played like a guard in HS, shot from downtown regularly, great ballhandling, iso skills and creative when penetrating.

Anyone who says he's limited on offense or "lucky to be like camby" should watch some of his HS games and shut up.

1st off,you proved my point. He's never played post in his life. He was a freaking guard in highschool. He's a good athlete, but how is he gonna score? He couldn't score against whitney in the championship game. So he can play without plays being called, but he's not a post player at all. His face up jumper is suspect. He will have the same issues until later in his career like camby had. That's not a lie. And I've watched his high school games and they confirm what I already knew.

Great athlete with a guard skillset and good jumper. Smart guy and hard worker, you really think he's not gonna develop a post game? Saying he will struggle in the NBA on offense is suspect.

A 7ft-er with athleticism, ball handling skills, and high bball iq is practically guaranteed to be an allstar. You almost don't need any moves. Just look at David Robinson. He had a decent jump shot, and then he was fast and could dunk. Hakeem had 1000x the moves Robinson did, and yet Robinson still led the league in scoring and won an MVP.

I hope you're not implying davis is anything close to robinson. Robinson avg 25 s a rook. Davis couldn't even score on whitney. Robinson dominated in college. C'mon son.

Robinson is a hall-of-famer, so you're right, we can't say Davis will be as good as him. But how long will it take for Davis to avg 14 pts, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks? Those are already all-star numbers for a center in today's NBA, and it is very easy to see him averaging those numbers in his 1st season. To do that, the only thing a center needs is to be big, athletic, and have a brain. It's sad to think about, but there are scarcely any centers in the league with all of those traits. Even Bynum and Howard, today's best centers, can be pretty terrible in BB-iq. Just the fact that Davis used to play guard already places him above those 2 in court awareness.

A very realistic projection for Davis is 14pts/9 reb/2blocks in season 1, going up to 20 pts/10reb/3 blocks by season 3. And to do that he doesn't need to even be as good in the post as Dwight Howard. How hard is that?
