In the regular season no they did not.

Before the playoffs Westbrook caught covid and injured his quad and was no where near 100% when he came back.

Also, the gimmick offense wasn’t the original plan. We were supposed to trade for Wood at the deadline to space the floor and be a lob threat.

    Back to my original point…

If CP3 and Harden, Russ and Harden and Kyrie and Harden can all be ball dominant and play well together.

Then KP and Green should be able to play together if they improve their 3 point shooting. Fit shouldn’t be an issue.

They were great playing together prior to bubble.

And in bubble, Russ was playing with thigh injury and just recovered from covid.

Did not love Russ either, but let's be honest.

Neither Porter or Green should be in same sentence with the future HOFers and current multiple All Stars you mentioned.

    Talent isn’t what I’m comparing.

my point is if those ball dominant guards can play together than the much less ball dominant Green and KP should be able to play together barring an improvement in shooting.

for example, how we staggered minutes with Harden and Paul.

Failing to re-sign MDA triggered that exodus, not the false narrative that Harden-Westbrook were incapable of playing well together.

And my point is that talent AND production are necessary to play at level that Harden-CP3 or Harden-Westbrook or Harden-Kyrie.

I’m not talking about playing at that level. I’m talking about KP and Green playing together.

Posters have questioned the fit. I’m using other guards as an example of why it can work.

not matching their talent or production but the ability of them to be a duo

Would you rather I use Lamelo and Terry Rozier?

I'm not adverse to having them play together but not convinced that they can generate enough offense together to make up for the lack of defense and TOV%.

You are simply wrong, they stunk together, forcing us to trade a great center in Capela so that Russ could even be somewhat effective.

That’s a great point. Production is a much bigger concern than fit right now.

They need to play well in general before determining if they can play together.

I guess 34ppg and 27ppg is trash for a backcourt then Lmaooo.

both players simultaneously had mvp caliber seasons.

Literally the highest scoring duo in the league that year.

Also, you do know that Capela was injured right?

The plan was to immediately replace Capela with Wood but talks fell through.

Compared to the team that won nearly 10 games more the year before and outscored opponents by nearly 2 more points on average a games, yes.

Good thing nobody was comparing those two teams…

Harden and Westbrook are the highest scoring duo in nba history over a single season.

You can call that trash if you want to.

It's not just ball dominance, their bball acumen is also not that high yet.

This I agree with. I just think it’s too early to rule out the pairing. Especially with Green still getting his feet wet in general and KP still learning how to run point.

Gotta be patient with both of them.

Of course, my gripe is if you are a smart manager you avoid that situation altogether, now you are stuck with them for years.

    KPJ
    1.7 mil this year 2021-22
    ----
    (rookie extension eligible)
    ----
    3.2 mil 2022-23
    4.8 mil 2023-24.

It's possible his shooting will get better but it's also possible that he never will. In which case, I really hope Stone don't feel compelled to extending him because he was a Rocket project.

    This year is KPJ's audition.

The whole point of a cheap low risk contract is that we can let him go if that is best of the team. Don't fit a square peg in round hole.

If surrounding with shooters makes the team average, it might be better to let that non shooter be Green, since Green is the high pick. This team can't go far if both backcourt starting guards are inefficient shooters.

No more than 3 non shooters on the court. A guard (green/KPJ), a wing (KJ, Tate). Then normally a big would be limited in range shooting.
