I grew up in Pasadena (PHS class of 83). I seem to remember a paper mill near the Washburn tunnel that helped put the "Stink" in "Stinkadena". I used to love when Moby (remember him?) referred to Pasadena as "Pasa-get-down-dena". I live in Southern California now (Balboa Island). My kids laugh when I refer to Pasadena, CA as "Pasa-get-down-dena":)

Jameson, don't mean to get personal, but are you in any way related to the early-80s Rockets player known as "the Whopper", Billy Paulz????

Damn, Cohen, my wife is a graduate of CLHS, class of 79. Hmmmm...

We now live in League City, same as cometsluv4play and soon to be Lil Pun.

For the Clear Laker's near Space Center and Bay Area, I lived a year at Village Green apartments at that intersection. I used to hang out at Bogie's. Anybody remember that place?

I think the huge landfill at Almeda-Genoa and Highway 3 has more to do with stinking up the area than most of the refineries do. Anytime after a cold front passes through, that's all I can smell in Clear Lake.

BTW...who the hell named Clear Lake and Clear Creek? Were they naming them in comparison to the Mississippi River?

I don't think they had the Mississippi in mind. Have you seen how unclear it is?

I was referencing the fact that Clear Lake could only be considered clear if compared to the 'muddy' Mississippi.

Now whoever gave Chocolate Bayou its name had the right idea!:D

I lived in channelview too. On blue bell. And let me tell you, that was a rough Neighborhood. You had to earn your respect in that place. Of course, that was back in the middle to late 70s. Things may have changed now. I also went to oak ridge high school in 84 - 85. I went to a freshmen only school 86 in tomball. How bizarre!@! And then graduated from westfield high school in 88.

I now live in Memphis. Near historic beale street. I'm like five minutes away from the mighty mississippi river. And love it.

One thing more, in channelview I remember a place called steffs or stefs BBQ, have any of you eaten there before? It was our favorite resturant.

I loved Sugarland. But the river kicks ass... Once you decide to become a bum on the river, you'll never look back.

I will never live in a big city again. Unless someone pays me significantly more than I'm currently making... :)

Its probably Uvalde where the $1 theater used to be and right by Interstate 10. Alot has changed over here if its been that long. Hell, if you watched the news, we were pretty flooded over here last June. That Garden Ridge they always showed was right there next to Fiesta on I-10 East.

Yea they still have that place here on Uvalde. It was actually bought out by a bunch of asians that bought the recipies from the original owners. Its still good and the old people that go there say it hasnt changed since the new ownership. They did changed the place's name to "BJ's Gourmet Seafood" or something like that. They still have the same food, so nothing really changed.
