Same thing Morey was doing when he talked about DH and CP3. They're not allowed to mention specific names atm, right?

Not sure about the rule. He mentioned his name in the exit interview. He's still sign with the Lakers until June 30 right? Maybe you're right when it come to speaking about free agency.

Since free agency hasn't officially begun, he's not ALLOWED to say Dwight's name. If you noticed, Daryl Morey doesn't mention Howard's name either. It's a way to keep teams from officially recruiting players through the media.

If CP3 decides to jet, I promise you LAC would rather trade him for our package (presumably Lin/Asik/Parsons :( ) than let him walk to Atlanta.

Free agency starts July 1st. Until then, Howard's under contract with the Lakers. Kupchak can say Dwight Howard all he wants because he's still a Laker. Morey cant say Howard's name until July 1st, otherwise it would be tampering. As I asked in another thread, I wonder where Morey'll be at 00:00:01 on July 1st?

It already started, I'm sure Harden and Parsons are bromancing Dwight as players, not as a representative of the Rockets. Morey may need a customized, oversized IPad for Deeright, or maybe he can bring Dream and Yao along

I was convinced Howard never sign with Houston. There was too much money on the table for him to walk away from. But it seems that money is not what I thought and most likely he will get it all back and even more when he signs his second contract here.

So that changes the ball game. And announcing TRob is available convinces me that Howard is in all likelihood coming. Now he could change his mind or he could just be playing the Rockets against LA to get what he wants but most of those scenarios don't make sense. In fact so far everything he has done will be a detriment if he stays a Laker. It already is.

People question everything from his talent to he his manhood and hestating when asked just makes matters worst. Even if he wasn't sure he should have said how he loves the organization and everyone on the team. And how much he loves LA and he would hate to leave. and then if he changed his mind so what.

But now he is alienating himself from LA. That's insanity in that market unless you have serious doubts and the longer you keep silent about your position the harder it is to go back. So Howard is either stupid or he is in all likelihood not returning to LA.

I think Howard will keep his views quiet until July 1 or very close to it, to reduce the amount of time for backlash, and make his decision soon after.

He's learnt his lesson about publicity, and about dragging his feet making a decision.

There's very little he could leverage out of playing the Rockets (or any other team) vs the Lakers. The only thing that could realistically happen is to get D'Antoni fired, but he's not willing to go public on it because of the backlash with SVG. And the boy owner doesn't want to be seen bowing to his #2 star player.

So I think Dwight realizes it would be better to go elsewhere, and suffer some short-term backlash.

Don't count out the other teams (Mavs, Atlanta and GSW) at this stage though.

I still think he is likeliest to go to the Lakers, but the Rockets still have a good chance. It should be the Lakers, but this past season gives the Rockets hope.

If he leaves L.A. I think he will run straight pass Texas to Georgia...

They will instantly have the best frontcourt in the NBA and they have a good guard and will still have plenty of cap space left.

It's an easier road to a championship in the east than it is in the west.

And San Antonio, OKC, Memphis, Denver, Golden State, etc are in the west. If Howard joins Atlanta they could arguably be a top 2 team in the east, can't necessarily say that about Houston if he comes here.

And are you paying attention to Wade _ he'll be 32 next year and father time is catching up to him and the rest of that roster. And look at Indiana. Look at how much trouble Miami is having with Roy and West. Howard and Al would have a field day. And besides Miami there's really no other team that would be in their way.

And last time I checked, Howard beat LeBron in the playoffs with Rafer. Smart move is for him to go to Atlanta in my opinion.

Can Dwight Howard co-exist with Asik playing on the front court with him?

And LAC would be better than the Rockets.

Chris Paul might be 1a or 1b at the PG position but the league is saturated with talent at the point so $20M at PG, sure you've got the best, but as we just witnessed the drop-off to the Mike Conley's at $8M aren't too bad, so is the additional $12M a good ROI?

It's arguably in itself but then you also have a $15M SG who is also ball-dominant and replicates most of the same skill-set?

That isn't going to get you a championship unless you can discover a couple of Chandler Parsons at the forward positions who can score in the post and play without the ball and a defensive anchor.

Miami have three of the top twenty players and you can see how much they've marginalised each other's game. We can see the difficulty in coexistence between Lin & Harden. Paul and Harden isn't a championship team.

If Howard comes to the Rockets, then chances are high that Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik will go to the Lakers.
