Hmm I'm in the 90's.. Doesnt feel like it though. Seems like everyone in my company/area/line of work is in the 90's and up
No. Just want folks to know where they are relative to the rest of the country. For example, I have some friends who make 50K and swear they are so broke, and that's like more than half the country.
None of the above and all of the above for some. I know folks who make a ton that are broke. They spend a lot.
So you want to be poor? I think the higher the percentage, the wealthier (at least according to this calculator).
37%. Although I think comparing yourself to the entire population of the world rather than a localized population of your country is more meaningful.
Reread my statement. According to the calculator, the higher percentage, the wealthier. He said he is in the 75th percentile. If I follow your (inverted) logic, he makes ~$20k a year.
It's tacky to talk about how much money you make... ...is what poor people say. I guess being in the top 25% at age 24 isn't too bad. Although, it certainly doesn't feel like it with my giant student loans... and the fact that most of my classmates in investment banking and such are baaaaanking way more than me who actually studied and became an engineer. (I so mad though).
I'd hardly consider myself broke, but I make about $50k (albeit the only income for my family of 4, and I feel poor). Actually, I had more money (a lot more) when I was single making $30k.
Same here. It's inherent in the pay of certain fields. It only takes $155,000 to be 90%. $205,000 and you're 95%. If you have a couple who both make 80k a year you're already 90th percentile. I work in O&G and most people here are 90% by themselves. Add in their spouse and they're Top 3%.
Not really. When people say The One Percenters they're talking about the top 1%... or the 99th percentile.
