The classification of gender dysphoria as a mental illness depends on one’s perspective, particularly on whether one subscribes to traditional or contemporary views on mental health and gender identity. From a more traditional or critical perspective: DSM-5 and the Historical Viewpoint: Gender dysphoria is still recognized in the DSM-5, which is a manual used to diagnose mental health conditions. This inclusion could be interpreted as an acknowledgment that the experience of incongruence between one's biological sex and gender identity involves psychological elements that require treatment. Critics of modern "woke" interpretations might argue that gender dysphoria should remain firmly in the category of mental illness because it involves significant psychological distress, often requiring interventions like therapy, medications, or surgeries. Criticism of Recent Changes Some critics view the removal of gender dysphoria from the "mental illness" category in the ICD-11 as politically motivated, prioritizing social trends over scientific rigor. These perspectives argue that normalizing gender incongruence risks overlooking the distress and challenges individuals face, as well as the broader societal implications of affirming diverse gender identities without sufficient scrutiny. Ultimately, even within more traditional frameworks, the goal of treatment remains alleviating distress and improving individuals' quality of life, but the framing of gender identity as pathological vs. a natural variation is where opinions diverge sharply.
I'll always have a problem with a man being in a woman's bathroom, dressing room, ect...The trans movement is ridiculous and something I will never support or accept. I don't have any problem with them living their lives in a peaceful manner but they don't belong around actual woman in private settings or sports
We're not going to agree on this but I appreciate the response. I can't be convinced they aren't mentally ill. Now if you tell me that they need therapy for mental illness then I'm all on board.
Okay so trans males with full beards should use the bathroom for the sex they were born with? You'd flip your **** if you saw a bearded "dude" go into a women's restroom.
Let's be real - no one cared about trans women using women's bathrooms for decades -they have been doing it for a long long time. It wasn't an issue until now. This isn't about safety or anything like that, it's about the pleasure of humiliating them by forcing them to use a men's bathroom so you can out them as transgender - so you can mock them.
Depending on individual politician pushing this it's either two reasons for their motivations: They don't want to discuss healthcare policy. Or they actually have severe hatred for lifestyles not similar to them and want trans people to have anxiety attacks out in public Everytime they feel a tinkle coming. That's the goal for these people. To make trans people feel severe anxiety over basic human needs like pooping and pissing whenever they are out and about in public society.
How did Nazis determine if someone was a Jew? The right always does this. Create this nebulous boogyman where if you believe they are an opposition to your power, you can paint them apart of this nebulous enemy to attack. A lot of corrupt fascists loved accusing people they had spats and disagreements with especially when it came to business disagreements as being Jews in 1920s and 1930s Germany. Same concept. Same energy.
For the most part trans people easily stand out, very few actually reach the point where its hard to tell.. I wont freak out seeing a dude in a dress having to use mens bathroom or bearded women having use the womens bathroom....
Those are not really trans, those are just dudes who like to wear women's clothes.... A fetish is not the same thing as being born in the wrong body and changing sex.
How do you know this? Do you do skirt and pant checks? Do you got like a old man creepy stick you walk around with and lift up skirts with in bathrooms to check? Do you go up to women and tell them you have to do a spot check to make sure they ain't packing heat down there?
It’s mental illness Other mammals don’t do this If they did, their species wouldn’t exist anymore think about it
I thought about it. That implies you believe majority of humans would want to be trans if society just bought into the "mental illness" as you say which to me means someone is telling on themselves by projecting. No amount of social brainwashing is going to make me not enjoy the p***y. Maybe you believe you can be convinced out of it because you question your sexuality often and keep it hidden because you are afraid of being outcasted.
This breh watched the crying game like 100 times and was surprised every time @basso @Os Trigonum @Rocket River
I don't weigh in on this topic much because it doesn't really affect me, I hate how transgendered folks are used to make a point, these folks are human beings and folks like Mace want to degrade them because there different and Mace cannot handle that. The only time I have ever looked into their view was when I used to watch "Jazz" about the real-life boy who felt she was born a woman and it took us through the process of doctor`s, psychologists and her family. I am not shocked that this small % of people are ridiculed but I am shocked at how many people CONSTANTLY complain about it when such a small number of people actually do it.......................it`s like I feel about Abortion, I would prefer people not do it, but it`s none of my business and sure as hell isn't the governments place to tell us what we can do with our bodies. And give me a break on all the folks who scream, "we must protect the children" when those same folks vote against impoverished kids getting a free lunch at school or any other program that will help children.......where is the faux outrage then
They are beating up girls in sports and in the Olympics @Salvy @Commodore @AroundTheWorld But yeh breh
you're conflating several separate issues. wrt to "protecting" kids, parents should be able to prevent their children from making life-altering decisions that are irreversible. Lopping off a body part is not the same as getting a tattoo. if an adult wants to transition, they should be able to, but by the same token society should not be forced to make special accommodations for them. their body, their choice, but the rest of us should receive the same discretion. Biological men (not children) should not be allowed to participate in contact sports with women. the risks are too great. the reverse is not the case, and if a biological woman feels she can hold her own with men, then go for it. for other sports where maleness confers an advantage, swimming, track and field, etc, we should consider an "open" category, where anyone who wants to can compete. Grown men with intact penises should not be in women's locker rooms or bathrooms, period. if a guy in drag want's to use the mens bathroom on the jersey turnpike, come on in. no-one will care; it's not that pleasant in there.
