Pro gun rights and death penalty, I can also see the argument against entitlements like food stamps or housing but the idea that it creates an entitlement society is just absurd. Plus I would much rather feed people then pay to blow them up.

Mainly my stance is pragmatic. People are going to act a certain way and no amount of education is going to stop human nature. For example abortion, people are going to have sex and are going to get pregnant, do away with it and there will be back alley abortions. Thus pro choice.

Greed: Businesses and people are going to try and get away with as much as possible and without limiting systemic risk and not keeping a firm grip on certain industries people are going to get screwed over. Thus pro regulation.

Laziness and irresponsibility: Most people are not going to save for retirement unless forced to. They then become an even larger burden. Thus pro non privatized SS and opt out 401ks. Also pro sin tax on cigs, alcohol, soda, fast food, etc.

We may say that we don't want the government enforcing desired behaviors through taxation or other avenues but sorry as a society we have more than proven that we are incapable of protecting ourselves from ourselves.

GM is sustainable. They still sell more cars than all other manufactures except for Toyota. The only problem they had were the stupid pension benefits they gave for the last 30 years. Now that the pensions have been off loaded, they are going to be a good shape for a while.

I'm a Democrat, but I respect the second amendment, and wish my party would take a tougher position on restricting immigration, free trade, and outsourcing, all of which have been devastating to blue collar workers.

Oh, and I'm not against the death penalty, but I think the legal system needs to be de-corrupted, before I'd be comfortable with supporting it.

I'm for the welfare systems we have in place for the poor, but I'm also willing to push further accountability for the poor to meet certain targets at the expense of their civil liberties in terms of privacy and dignity to a reasonable degree. I'd even go as far as supporting something like drug tests for welfare recipients even if they're a logistical and budgetary nightmare. The principle is that the process for receiving continued years-long welfare should force the recipient to show an effort in some form of progress. We're doing that now, but let's push further on what incentives work and what doesn't and tune out criticism until we get that answer.

I don't think jailing non-violent drug offenders for years is a sign of any toughness, and I'd rather devote resources to rehab clinics and mental institutions. Our nation has some of the toughest laws on criminals, yet white collar criminals who inflict a larger degree of social damage lay untouched with hidden funds and easier sentences.

There really should be another tax bracket for the ultra rich. I don't buy that umbrella argument that they'll leave elsewhere. At some point in time, they could, but as the world's dominant nation, it'll likely be later than you think.

Overall, my ideas shift as pressing needs of our time changes. I think there's a lot of room for social justice without stepping on what makes our economy dynamic and self-driven. I've also lived in California long enough to see how political excess can stagnate a government and make politicians insular and deluded enough to believe that they can overspend their way into popularity at the expense of future planning.

Corporate free speech funding is destroying our political process.

Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual. But now I know why I have always lost women to guys like you. I mean, it's not just the uniform. It's the stories that you tell. So much fun and imagination. Lee Harvey, you are a madman. When you stole that cow, and your friend tried to make it with the cow. I want to party with you, cowboy. But the two of us together, forget it. I'm gonna go out on a limb here. I'm gonna volunteer my leadership to this platoon.

No it wasnt. Their production practices are still inferior to Japanese automakers. It's better than its ever been but GMs car production process cost them more than any pension problem (although their union benefits are still a big problem)

    Fixed.

I'm a liberal who's anti-abortion. That's the only divergence of mine I can think of off the top of my head.
