Nothing wrong with saying that KPJ is an inconsistent defender because he is. Saying he's a liability and that he never plays defense and thus THAT is why the team should move on is biased AF.
I dont like to insult people because this is only a game and we're just having a discussion. However, If you had phrased it better, I could have understood what you were trying to say. I was alluding to current stats and you apparently went with current stats in on post and career in another.....so, I put that on you.
I think we have to build around Jalen and Jabari, who are true blue chip franchise prospects. I think Sengun, Tari, and KPJ are the other 3 who clearly have enormous upside. While I understand that folks have questions about fit (especially with KPJ and Sengun), they are too good not to be getting heavy minutes every night. We should experiment with approaches that maximize their talents; it’s not clear that is actually happening. I’d love to grab Turner in FA, and for sure that would impact Sengun. If the expectation is that Sengun would play starters minutes off the bench, then you have to be okay with Turner and Sengun on the court together at times. Not sure what that looks like. It also means Tari plays more minutes at the 3… which means we have to remove the logjam at that position, beyond trading EG. So lots to consider with respect to a Myles Turner acquisition, but it’s definitely workable. I don’t think we try to move Sengun, even with a Turner signing. He’s not even a fully formed player yet. He’s going to be so good in this league. if we went after FVC, we’d have another adjustment to make with KPJ. It would mean KPJ playing some minutes at the 3 because he’s too good not to be playing lots of minutes. So again, we’d have to clear the logjam at the 3. Anyway we slice it, the draft and/free agency is going to force our hand to consolidate at the 3.
Yeah I think a lot of people just mean different things when they say "bad" or "poor" or whatever. Like for me, if I say someone is a bad defender, that just means I think that over this entire season, the defense would be better (or much better) if there was a league average defender in that spot. That's not a judgement on whether or not that player will be good in the future, or if he has the tools, or their effort level, or anything like that. It just means that their average performance over all the games has had a negative impact compared to a league average defensive player. And I think that's true for all 5 of our starters. KPJ has had some great moments defensively, especially late in games. Jabari has started to show some real defensive chops and I'd bet money that he's going to be a great defender as he gets older, but right now he is not. Neither is Sengun, or Gordon, or Jalen. And that's why we have the 27th best defense in the league.
Yup, I should state that "At 8th year" means only covering this year. My bad. Everyone sees the world from his/her own eyes.
I like Turner, but I’m not trading for him. Sengun should continue to start and grow with the group. If we’re somehow buyers at the trade deadline, I’d love a long, 3-and-wing to complement Smith.
Same here. What are your thoughts on Jayden McDaniels of Minnesota? He has a nice 3pt percentage, he doesn't require the ball but he plays good defense. And I think with Jabari coming on, the Rockets will start to feed him more. There's only so many balls to go around. We keep forgetting about Tari Eason but I love what he brings off the bench.
Looking at this team. I wanted to see what teams made quick turnarounds This one Caught my Attention: New Jersey Nets 2000-01: 26-56 to 2001-02: 52-30 (26 more wins)For the second time in his career, Jason Kidd engineered an incredible turnaround. Kidd (acquired in a trade with the Suns for Stephon Marbury) joined with second-year forward Kenyon Martin and rookie forward Richard Jefferson to form a devastating fast-break attack that carried the long-suffering Nets to the first of two consecutive NBA Finals appearances. I think we need a LEGIT PG Trivia: The 2001-2 Sacremento Kings - That squad had a Jabari Smith on it too . . .. .. Rocket River
He’d be fantastic, but I imagine it would take a lot to land him. Part of the reason Minnesota gave up so much for Gobert is because they refused to include McDaniels. They value him highly.
In a heartbeat, but what what else are we including? EGO and the Buck’s #1 for McDaniels and filler? Sure. KJM and the first? Probably not.
Yes and yes! Lol...I'd give up KJM and a #1. I think McDaniels is just that good. If Minny keeps going the way they are, I think they may want a #1 draft pick this yr to add some low price talent and another young player like KJM.
I could certainly be convinced that McDaniels is worth KMJ and the Buck's first. I just don't think that will be enough for Minnesota. Crazier things have happened, though. He'd certainly fit perfectly into the starting lineup and create a nice wing rotation with Smith, Eason, and Tate.
