I have a friend who has recently relocated to Houston who is a relatively successful drummer. 20 years of touring with a number of successful bands. A real artist.

The problem we are having is trying to connect him with local musicians. It's been 20 years since I was seeing shows or hanging out at Evans Music City so I have no idea where to send him. Are there coffee shops or music stores that draw local musicians? Anywhere the local community runs into each other, or where the employees what's going on around town?

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks

This may seem like a crazy idea but might I suggest going to live shows…

My cousin actually responded. He's in some hipster band as well as a jazz duo, says there aren't really hangouts, but go to live shows and talk to the bands after, get to know people that way.
