adelman drafted brooks. the whole board calls for his head, but he was right. adelman starts rafer. the whole board calls for his head, but he was right adelman benches steve. the whole board calls for his head, but he was right. now he doesnt play brooks, the guy HE drafted, because of OBVIOUS mismatches, and people are still calling for his head. you adelman bashers are just scrounging to find every little thing to hate adelman. its getting sad really.
Stop being a bunch of homers guys.. the last time we overrated a player like this didn't turn out so well, he ended up in Greece.. Brooks is a good player, great handles, good shooting (not as good as I expected though), and above average decision making.. he provides a spark off the bench and brings life to the offense.. HOWEVER, the dude is 5'10 (on a good day), he has a miniature frame and he can't guard ANYONE worth a crap.. do you realize what Baron Davis/Monta Ellis would've done to the poor duck?? the would've eaten him alive. No mercy, drives and dunks, postups and easy J's.. I know that Alston can't guard anyone either, but at least the dude is over 6 feet, he can some what bother Davis and prevent him from going apesh!t on us and going for 50.. do you guys realize that the 6'2 Luther Head basically screwed up our defensive rhythm and gave the Warriors confidence when he stayed 3 positions on Baron and Baron took him to school EVERY SINGLE DAMN POSITION? it's Baron Davis guys, not Lowry.. heck, Lowry got 2 offensive rebounds because Mr. Duck couldn't block him out.. he is just too small.. if you truly believe that Brooks is the answer, you are delusional and you are living in a parallel universe where Dan Langhi is the greatest player ever to touch a basketball and 5'2 people are very successful in professional basketball.. don't get me wrong, I think Brooks can turnaround some games for us and play an integral role in certain games where the matchup is favorable, example: San Antonio Spurs (he can stay with Parker with his speed, kinda confuse their defense with his quick drives and dishes), but against he fastest team in the league (whose guard happens to be Baron "wrestler" Davis), I don't think he would've succeeded.. we want Kidd we want Bibby we want the 05-06 Mike James we want a healthy franchise
field goal percentage---- 0.391 3pt percentage--------- 0.310 Freethrow percentage--- 0.585 Tear-drop percentage--- ????? team record: 15-16 I am not saying not playing Steve caused this record, but this by itself makes you question his judgement.. that's possibly the only positive aspect of Rick's coaching.. he has been really good in terms of addressing matchups and trying to play the right players for each matchup (unlike this short bald guy I know)..
tha warriors were doin that pick n roll(with tha pg and jackson) and it would leave jackson on brooks and they kept tryin to exploit. brooks height was becoming a problem. they did that play like 3 times in a row in tha second quarter
The problem with this team is that it plays players based on masking their weaknesses and not forcing the opposition to deal with those same player's strengths. We have the biggest, best, most skilled Center in the league. He is not quick but he is the best low post player in the game and is good for 25/10 or better when he gets minutes. TEAMS SHOULD BE ADJUSTING THEIR ROTATION TO HIM. Now we have a PG who is still raw but deserves some time. He is without a doubt one of the 5 quickest players in the league and he can shoot and he finishes at the rim better than any of our other PG. He is undersized, however, so he gets spotty minutes. Tell that to Mugsy Bogues, Chris Jackson (now maqhoud adbul whatever) Calvin Murphy and every other sub 6 foot PG who made their teams better anytime they were on the floor. I understand that sometimes you must adjust due to match ups but it seems like this team always looks at what a guy can't do (and sits him) instead of saying "what CAN he do that will give the other team fits."
dang sam fisher i have never dissed you like that...you are a smart basketball man and im surprised you snapped at me like that...it hurts me to the core
denniscd please keep coming back - some of us do appreciate you and your insight. I will give Sam +++ on intelligence, and ---- on diplomacy. Sam you actually sometimes make me root for DD just because you are being such a horse's behind. But then sometimes I think DD has a good point.
You make a good point, but I think the inexperience factor of Brooks in other areas(not just defense) kept him on the bench. Three months from now, Brooks may very well be on the floor at the end. I would also be surprised to see Brooks get only 4 minutes against Boston tomorrow.
But he got no back to the basket play the problem they use Brooks next to Lutter and that is 2 small players. Rafer was playing well and RA leave him most of the 2 half, RA went away from what gave them the lead and it doesn't help when Bonzi get dehydrated. they need to play a line up with player around the same size that defend the 3 line and the high pick and roll, and that a line up with a lot of players the same size, like they did with Bonzi, Battier, Scola and Novak along with Rafer. That create lot of confusion amount the GS squad, RA went away to long and let the momentum change towards GS, and thats something his been doing a lot this season when he take to long to make a change and is too late.
The Rockets didn't succeed last night: they got blown out in the fourth, by a sizable margin. Brooks should have gone in with three minutes left right after one of the Warriors' three's got the lead up to around 15 points, for no other reason than to give him playing time and work some of the kinks out. Knocking Brooks for his defense after a game where the starters let the visiting team score 35 points or so doesn't make any sense.
The Dubs would have found a way to get Brooks on a mismatch all night, but I still would have loved to see Brooks on Ellis, quick on quick!
