Met Rafer one time at a strip club. Pretty cool dude. My group’s table was right next his and he drank a shot with us.
Pretty sure that won't be as much of a problem next season. The Rockets had a lot of empty seats during their first title run, even for playoff games. Remember the players calling out the fans after Game 1 vs Phoenix?
As usual MetroRail dropped the ball. Saw on the news a lot of people missed the parade because they couldn't get there. I got to the Fannin South park and ride at 1215 and the lot was full. I drove by the station and it was packed! So i knew parking at reliant for $12 would be a terrible idea since I wouldn't be able to get on the rail. So friend and I drove to the dynamo stadium area and tried to get on the purple rail. Heard someone say it hasn't come for 30 mins. So we instead parked near 8th wonder brewery for $10 bucks. Walked a mile to Smith. Worked out great.
Well maybe this will get people to push for more funding for rail and put congressmen like John Culberson on the hot seat for blocking federal funding for it in the past. Getting to the parade would have been a lot easier for people if Houston had a better system that local politicians didn't chop up.
I’m so glad I came down for this. Just an amazing experience and great to see the whole city out there celebrating. After the parade ended I just stood in the middle of Walker for a few minutes and soaked all of it in. Just thinking about all of those decades that things came up short and about all of the struggles the city has been through recently. Just an awe inspiring experience. I don’t know if any Clutchfans made it to Warrens but had a great time. Just hanging out with all of the fans.
well I'm sure the MetroRail wasn't suppose to handle that many people. Over1 million people were at the event and of course not everybody used the rail but still, quite a bit did.
So have they released any numbers on attendance yesterday? Looks like well over a million were out there to me
I almost took Metro since it was free but at the last minute decided not to. So glad I didn’t after hearing a lot of people missed the parade on the news. I parked on the outskirts of downtown. Had to do some walking which I didn’t mind because leaving the downtown area looked like a nightmare with all the traffic. For me it was easy in, easy out! Or should I say “relatively easy” compared to some other people because it was traffic everywhere.
i took the rail and missed the entire thing. I was at the medical center and each time the rail came it was already jam packed with people. Than we realized that people were hopping on the rail that was going south so they could get on early and wait for it to loop back around before the folks waiting for it to go north. So we did that and barely squeezed in, than spent another hour waiting at each stop as people tried desparately to squeeze through on each stop. Every stop took forever because of this. There was a kid that had an asthma attack, couldn't breath bc of how many people were on the rail. We finally get to down town well after the parade ended (And we got started at medical center noon, 2 hours before the parade) So the way back was the same thing, rail completely packed with people trying to get back down to medical center. Me, my wife and 4 year old walked for 2.5 hours from Downtown all the way back to the medical center. I was fighting a sore throat and cold syptoms and carrying by 4 year old the entire walk, took a few breaks a long the way. We got back to the medical center at 740, ate at subway as it was the only restaurant that hadn't ran out of supplies or was closed and then went home. Our journey started at 1100 when we left the house thinking 3 hours ahead of the parade would be plenty of time. Man never again, never underestimate how big this city is.
We drove by a few rail stations and saw those long lines and proceeded to drive downtown. Parked at the new Marriott that has the Biggios restaurant/bar. Finally got close to the parade route at 1:30pm but it was so packed we turned back and spent the afternoon at Biggios restaurant to watch the parade and rally. Great atmosphere in there. Then took the kiddos to Discovery Green.
Same thing as car. I missed the parade thing because there is too jammed traffic in downtown...but it is worth for me to see all people celebrating. It bring the smile to my face. Next time we win championship, i would just walk far away to attend parade instead of the vehicle.
