how did you get money? When you were like 12-15 years old, did you get allowance? Did you mow lawns? Did you sell stuff? Did you steal? Did you beg for money? How did you get money...!
mowed lawns. It was a great business to have in the late 70's and 80's. But, all "great businesses" eventually become okay business due to competition. With a COLA, I bet the average price to mow a lawn has been halved since I did them.
Took the money I had and charged people to borrow it from me. I had a nice little racket going. All the impulsive kids that *NEEDED* a candy bar were the best. I'd give them $0.50 and get $0.75 the next day. I had 'credit' lines and everything for all the 4th,5th,6th grade kids.
From 12 to around 17 years old, me and a buddy of mine mowed yards. We did about 5 or 6 a week and split it 50/50, unitl I got my DL, we pushed them around the neighborhood.
I stole it from my mom's purse and my dad's wallet. Sadly, they never noticed, or at least, never confronted me about it.
Got a weekly allowance for doing nothing and mowed my lawn. Then I turned 15 and my parents said I had to mow the lawn for free for the rest of my life (while living in that house) as a "method to pay" for my car insurance. I happily obliged, seeing as how by that time I had matured out of the only manner in which I had spent all my money up to that poinit in my life: football, baseball, and basketball cards. Now, when I visit my parents, I offer to mow the lawn (so they don't have to waste money on professional mowers). They have yet to take me up on my offer.
I would oyster a bit, mow lawns, help my cousin at his cattle ranch and I bagged groceries and checkout girls at the grocery store.
I got my first job at 15 by lying about my age on the application. Gotta love Safeway. Bagging groceries rocked. I cleaned up with tip money.
I mowed yards when I was younger. When I was older, I bummed from my parents. I was mostly just buying gas for the car anyway. In junior high, I'd borrow money from these kids that would loan their money as exorbitant interest rates. But, then I'd only pay back enough to not lose my credit. I was a terrible investment for them; I probably didn't pay back half of what I borrowed.
Bama's from the Bayou of Louiana. I guess his prediliction for seafood explains the comment about bagging checkout girls.
We used to walk the bayous of the local golf course and find hundreds of golf balls. We would get them home and clean them up and then on the weekends or when there was a tournament, we would wait in the woods by the first green and come out as each group was walking off the green and sell the golf balls. The ones left over we would take to the clubhouse and sell them to the pro shop. Made a nice profit doing that
