I'm still a fan. His shot selection was questionable even during his hot streak and, of course, looks worse now that he's not hitting with the same %. That being said, if he can still be an average to above average defender and hit around 40% of his threes that's a good bench player to have.

39-40% will be just fine. Mathews has not averaged less than 38% from 3 in any of his 3 seasons in NBA.

I absolutely LOVE this contract. I was afraid that we were going to get screwed here and overpay with a Luke Kennard, Davis Bertans, Duncan Robinson, Joe Harris level contract. All those guys got massively overpaid for what they do. Mathews at this price is tremendous value. It depends on the name you make during the Playoffs or the thiccer schedule of the Regular Season. You could easily trade shooters like Harris or Bertans. The league treats them like shooting royalty. Market has been crazy for years.
