That was crazy .... has to be surreal for a dude playing on a two way contract to get that kinda reaction from the crowd.
He was "THE MAN" at Lipscomb and if you watch the highlights he was incredible - very JJ Reddick like.....only bigger and more athletic. Too bad we did not have him when Harden was here, many with Harden's gravity it would have been wide open shot after wide open shot. He is a PERFECT complimentary player. DD
the best thing to do from a business standpoint is play Christopher over matthews, and let matthews just play like ten to fifteen minutes a game, now that we know what he can do. We know what he can do, but Christopher is our future, he's already locked into that rookie deal and can't go nowhere. Once Jgreen and Kevin porter return, his minutes need to be drastically reduced until he signs that extension. its a business after all. What's the point of bloating his value and winning several more games only to have him refuse our lowball offer and sign with someone else next season? We have the leverage.
Christopher is not as tall as Mathews - you can play Mathews at SG and SF, you can play Christopher at PG and SG (barely)...... DD
well i guess we'll have to play house and nwaba then. I'm all for tanking and making sure we get matthews on a reasonable contract. Besides, we can still run a three guard lineup as Christopher is a great defender. (I'm not trying to win games here, i'm looking at asset managemnet).
I haven't seen this posted yet, but Lipscomb had a nice little NIT run in 2019, downing Wichita State and NC State before losing to Texas in the final game. When they played NC State on the road, Matthews was incredible (44 points). They could have beaten anyone in college that night. Wild, wild crowd that went home disappointed.
Anybody else getting Linsanity vibes from this? The key is to keep him in the role player position and not overpay/overplay him.
why? you want to overpay for him or have him leave in the offseason? He's an asset just like everybody else. sign him cheap after the deadline when we have our real team. These games are all just try-outs and glorified scrimmages. half these guys won't even be here next year. anyhows, christopher is better. In fact, i'd rather call up garuba as soon as he's ready and play him instead too. He's in our future. Matthews aint getting any better than he is. We want to lock him up on a cheap contract. that's the goal, just like beverley, parsons, its not to win several more games.
Loving what Gary Bird is doing, but with his shooting, teams are gonna throw money at him. Just look at guys like Bertans, Robertson and Buddy Hield. What figure do you think would be overpaying him?
Holy **** this was wild! Better than any performance from the top two picks in the upcoming draft granted this guy was a senior! He’s been doing this for years. Lock him up to the longest contract available
Let’s right a wrong and cut House and use the spot to sign Matthews and get it right the second time.
yes, i agree play them. i'm saying that christopher can cut into garrison's minutes once Green and KPJ get back.
Christopher has a wingspan of 6'9, same as Mathews. He can easily play small forward if you need him to, similar to Eric Gordon.
