He absolutely should deserve more recognition for finding good role players. However, he will only be considered great GM if he lands one or more superstar in Houston either via draft/trade/free agency.
If I’m not mistaken, we inherited his one year contract from Boston when we picked him up off waivers. I’m guessing we see a contract extension soon much like we saw with Brooks.
Lets just wait until the end of the season. I don't like these quick and hasty threads. If he keeps it up all season, then give him the contract
Two-way contracts split 45 days with NBA team and 45 days with G-league team. Rockets will exhaust those 45 days first with the NBA side of that contract. I doubt they see through on any of the obligation to the 45 days of G-league service. Terms of the contract will change at that point. Another player would need to leave to open up a spot. I'm guessing House
Sorry, this article claims 50 games. Even better. Rockets can get closer to the trade deadline and then open up a spot. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2021/02/two-way-players-making-bids-for-promotions-3.html
The only problem with that is it will keep getting more expensive if he continue to display the same steady play.
"You want to be the team that finds Garrison Matthews on a 2-way not the one that hands him $65 million." - Chandler Parsons
Wrong. GM on a 2 way, his time with Rockets is limited this season. Rockets will be forced to make decision THIS season, every game he plays the price will rise.
The NBA is going to be in another postseason bubble where Mathews will break the rule and invite a thottie in? That would be interesting.
Someone explain this like I'm 4 years old for two-way contracts. Is this kinda like a "player on loan" contract? Like uh in the real world, a contract to hire kind of role?
