Really? We're barely a quarter into the season, we're 3-2, we have a completely revamped defense, we're most likely going to finish 11-5 and win the division, and you want to start tanking so we can get a new coach just because we lost to the Raiders the day after Al Davis died? Really?? Come on, man...
Weird huh? let's go 7-9 or 8-8 to miss the playoffs because it is better for our championship prospects.
If they go 11-5, I'll change my story completely. I just don't expect that to happen. My issue would be if they go 9-7, and are the worst team in the playoffs.
Going 9-7 would mean we would have to lose 5 more games. (really, ima??) Look at the schedule and tell me which 5 games you think we are going to lose. I'll give you Baltimore and Atlanta, but what about the other 3? I'm not guaranteeing 11-5 or anything, but man...this is just 1 game. Against a team playing inspired football because of the passing of their iconic owner the night before. Most people predicted we'd be 3-2 right now anyway. Just switch the steeler and raider games, and we're pretty much right on schedule. We can still do great things this year. BTW, it's not like a team going 10-6 can't get hot and win the Superbowl. IIRC, it happened last year.
The Atlanta game is here, right? We'll beat the Falcons. Other than the Baltimore game, and barring the Texans going on a protracted losing streak, I'll be shocked if they're the underdog in another game this year. Maybe at Tennessee if Baltimore destroys us and the Titans win this week. But after that...
knee jerk? really? 10 years of Texans football...about 35 years of Oilers football...50 years of Astros baseball...about 40 years of Rockets basketball... 2 major championships to show for it!!! i'm shocked we still have threads where people hint at optimism. i love these teams...and i'm stuck with them...but i hate these teams...and i'm stuck with them.
i'd rep this 94-95 times if i could. i've officially given up any optimism when it comes to sports. when my alma mater has a better chance of winning a bowl game before any of my other teams have of winning anything, i know my situation as a sports fan sucks! it ain't half-full any more.
It would be one thing if that were a playoff game yesterday. Or even if it was a loss that put us at 5-7 for the year. But it wasn't. It just put us at 3-2 with a WHOLE lot of games left to play.
the good news is that after Baltimore, the remaining schedule is not that difficult, save the Falcons. Mario out will certainly hurt but with a healthy AJ back after Baltimore, it's not crazy to think they could to go 7-3
I am tempted to vote NEVER, but with God all things are possible, and it will likely require His involvement because those currently in charge are clearly clueless. Instead of the curse of Babino it is the curse of the Baboons!
