I don't think that you can completely judge a GM by what he's done before the start of the season. Guys like Burke, Scott, Tavares, and Lane can be as good as many of the free agent hitters whose names have come up here, if they are given regular playing time. Plenty of deals can get made during the season. I haven't seen a deal made yet this offseason that I feel bad about missing out on. Have you?

this is funny and starting to seem like sportsradio 610 is correct. They talked about the chronicle article where drayton we have to make a move.

They said in other words drayton means"buy tickets buy tickets buy tickets"

They were saying he came out in public to get fans pumped and he really will sit still and not make a move.

If you are talking about the complexities and intricacies of the game, and the games within the game, soccer is to baseball what Chutes & Ladders is to Chess.

Why are you trying to make a point in a thread completely separate from your point? You've lowered yourself down to the level of the people that you hate. What does that make you? As bad as they are.

No. I am not as bad as they are because I don't go into every single baseball thread that is started and bash the sport (Check out the soccer threads from the last 2 months or so and you'll see what I am talking about). I only did it this one time to prove a point because I am getting sick of certain individuals.

I think I somewhat proved a point because those people got as irritated as I did towards them. I am not the type that will ignorantly bash everything I hate for the sake of it because I understand everyone have their own interests, likes and dislikes. I can point out individuals who are negative for the sake of being negative but I won't go there because that's a whole other thread.

Once again I apologize to those who are not part of this. I just needed to make a point. Those who wanna continue to bash soccer (I know who you are), that's fine but please don't come into every soccer related threads and spew your ignorance and derail others' discussions.

You could have said all this IN THE ACTUAL SOCCER THREADS. If they were bashing you in the soccer threads, then you know they are reading them and it would at least then be relevant. Now, you are trolling in Real Shady's thread, just as they did in the soccer ones. Did Real Shady do anything to you or bash soccer?

No, I don't care if it is once or 100 times, you are no better than them because you used their tactic. Ignore list, here you come.

It's very, very unliekly that Burke or Scott will be as good next season as Nomar Garciaparra, Rondell White, Reggie Sanders, Jeromy Burnitz or any other FA corner OF. Given our situation, I feel bad about missing out on all of them.

True, but I think the odds of Bagwell beng at least serviceable (meaning he can field his position and still gets decent avg and OBP, if no power) is actually pretty good. If that's the case, then Burke/Scott are your backup 2B and 4th OF, respectively. That's not such a bad scenario.

As others have mentioned, the biggest problem hamstringing this club is Bagwell. Not just his contract, but his injury status as well. If the guy is healthy, there is no way you can sit him. Other players know that, so they aren't going to come here on the off chance that they have to sit because they are slightly worse than Jason Lane.

Purpura didn't create that situation, he is just trying to manage it. I don't think we can judge him as a GM until we see what he can do with more maneuvering room after Bagwell is gone.

No, please don't put me on the ignore list. I don't think I could bare being ignored.

Again I apologize to those not involved and "Real Shady". I think I made my point and for the sake of this thread won't reply here anymore so you can continue discussing the thread's topic.

Who were the other two people besides MadMax and Rocketman95 voted for option #1?

What do the apologists think of the poll results? A whopping 4 people think that Pupura/McLane can pull a deal off this offseason. Shocking.

i don't think i voted at all. i don't want a trade to be done so that he can get one under his belt. i want it to be done because it betters the team. if he never makes a trade and we still find ourselves winning the NL with a shot at the World Series, then i'm fine with that.

All is not lost. Perhaps Timmy can see if Tottenham Hotspur have any interest in Brad Lidge.

    Heres what you need.
Buy a tivo and record the game.
Watch the game in fastforward. The game really starts to speed up.

Please, for the love of God feel free to show me one free agent that has been signed that was WORTH the money that was paid for them. Also, feel free to show me one key free agent that wouldn't put our payroll into mid 90 millions... that's right, there are none. The problem is we have no money to go signing free agents at 10 mill a pop, easy as that. Blame Drayton if you want, but the dude has done pretty well over the past decade...
