If Battier is the badly needed piece and Gay flops I'll say congrats on a bold move. If that doesn't happen I'll say this was a horrible move to 80% of your fans and you should be fired.

Clutch, you gotta be the GM. You have us here if you are seeking an opinion, let the fans run this team and you can be our representative. If Isiah can be GM of the Knicks, you can do it for the Rockets. All you need is a numbers guy for cap calculations and some solid scouts. I know that you/we will never rest until we feel the team is ready. We know what we want out of a team, and how much we want to win. We have some smart fans here, and while we'll never unanimously agree on anything, either majority rules or you can make the final decision. I'm thinking a coup will do the job
My personal take on all of this is that Les is preparing to sell the team, his biggest concern is cashing in, not what fans think. I don't think he's in this for the long term.
As fans, we need to really put the pressure on management and make sure we are getting more out of this trade than Battier. Mike Miller, to be exact. I don't think we should be emphasizing keeping Gay in all these petitions, because he is as good as gone, but getting Mike Miller out of this deal as well. We can throw in extra pieces to make it work.

I think we have a winner here! If Les is really selling the team, then the "who cares about the future" attitude could be flowing from him, not primarily from JVG. Though JVG still gets lots of the blame from me for those oh so costly and completely unnecessary wins at the end of the season.
Is there a transcript? What questions were asked? Was anything said at all about Rudy Gay? I have heard basically zero from management. In Dallas they had a big press conference for Mo Auger who was picked just a few spots ahead of Steve Novak. Why is it that CD, Les and JVG are doing nothing like that? I think they are in Duck and Cover mode right now.
It's a million dollar fine if they speak about the trade. The silver-lining would be if someone sends that Jerry West radio interview to Stern and he gets fined.
