It's going to get ugly here in the GARM over the next few weeks. Everyone is disappointed with our record and with all the injuries we've had. It seems some people want Morey to make a trade, just to make a trade. I don't want to see Morey give away a big part of our team, just so we can rent a player for a few months, and I don't think he will. I also don't want him to trade for marginal stars with large long-term contracts. I think Morey is doing the right thing, he's been acquiring young talent with a big upside. Some of these guys will be flops, but some may become stars. The Yao and McGrady era has come to an end, and it may take a couple of years to assemble all the right parts in order for the Rockets to be a real contender.
We've developed a lot of late first round and 2nd round picks into good players, imagine what we could do with lottery picks with a higher ceiling...were probaly not going to just outright draft a immediate superstar but building a team with multiple lottery picks can atleast give you a team that can develop into a contender like portland, thunder and even kings with evans and cousins if they continue to progress and improve their coaching staff.
Lots of lottery busts too, there are VERY VERY few sure things. Tanking in today's NBA does not work. DD
i doubt were landing melo...and like reeko said, were sellers. I think a blowup is on the horizon, or some significant changes. hopefully morey figures something special out, that would be neat. lol
I'm fine with waiting but this "he is waiting for a trade much better" idea pisses me off. Don't be so cheap man, you don't need that extra $7 if you already find a $100 deal. Do not try to scrap the pan. I don't need A+ to pass my exam, A is fine. Even B is fine. Bu noooooo don't make a move to bring a real center. It has to be a deal like: Budinger <-> Kevin Love or JJ <-> Bynum. Oh bugger, I'm again!
What about just getting 7 ft center like Kanter to eventually replace the 6'6" midget center in 2-3 years?
Virtually all the best players in the NBA right now on winning teams are with the team that DRAFTED THEM (or traded for them on draft day). Boston drafted Paul Pierce Orlando drafted Dwight Howard Chicago drafted Rose and Noah Atlanta drafted Joe Johnson San Antonio drafted Duncan, Manu, and Parker Dallas drafted Nowitzki Lakers drafted Kobe OKC drafted Durant and Westbrook Utah drafted Deron Williams Denver drafted Carmelo New Orleans drafted Paul and West Portland drafted Aldridge and Roy Miami drafted Wade The only exceptions I can think of among winning teams are: * Miami with Lebron and Bosh, whom they wouldn't have gotten without the guy they drafted (Wade) being there. * Boston with Garnett & Allen, whom they wouldn't have gotten without the guy they drafted (Pierce) being there. * New York with Amare. * Lakers with Pau Gasol. The good teams in the league got good through the draft, because they drafted a star player who made the team attractive to secondary players or other stars. 9 times out of 10, it starts with drafting a star. That's just reality.
This season is toast anyway, even if we make the playoffs. Morey's doing the right thing by not making a panicky move. The closer we get to the trading deadline, the better our chances of taking advantage of a team that IS making a panicky move.
We're not even waiting for a star. We just want a solid defensive center. We want a tall strong dude. NOW.
Yao Ming got injured after 5 games. We did nothing except move Hayes again to the starting line-up. Chuck went down. We did nothing again, except wait and see if JHill will pan out. In the meantime, instead of trading for a big guy, we go and get TWill. Orlando went into a losing streak (but still had a winning record) and they go and make three-player trades. Just tell the fans and players honestly we are not trying to get into the playoffs this year but we are positioning for the best trades we can get. Because what DM says publicly about this team's hopes to get into the playoffs and what he is doing don't match. You think our players are not demoralized by what is happening. We can go as much as 10-14 games under .500 this January.
I just think you guys give Morey too much credit. Stacking up all these so called "assets" is great but you eventually gotta be held accountable. Trading Trevor Ariza was a mistake at this point, being how weak we are defensively at SF.
Rockets haven't drafted well for 10 years. That's their reality. Believe me, no one knows this better than DM himself. He's fully awake and aware of the situation - he just hasn't a clue as to what to do to get out of the box of mediocrity that the previous regime has spent 10 years constructing. All of this whining for him to do something is beginning to sound like a chorus of whiny teenaged girls. Folks need to stop snorting the red koolaid and face reality: it's going to be a long tough slog to get out of this mess and that could take years. They can change coaches all they want but until a change is made at the top of this organization where the folks in charge finally figure out how to put together a contending team, this will be as good as it gets.
