future is delusive, man, what if another injury hit our main guys? Can you control that? Now is what we have to seize and take full advantage of........don't think future when there are still a lot of things that can be done now........
The part that really bugs me about all this is that Adelman seemingly does not hesitate to put the brakes on Brooks and bench him whenever he isn't playing well, but for whatever reason gives Ariza the green light to make bad decisions nonstop on both ends of the court. On defense he gambles and gives up open shots, on offense he continually tries stuff he can't do, like take one dribble step and launch a fade-away 22 footer T-Mac style, or worse still, try to score from the post. Guaranteed brick, every time. It has gotten to the point that I scream at the TV "PLEASE DON'T SHOOT!" whenever the ball gets into his hands. You might say that Brooks has a great backup, but so does Ariza. I wish Chase were allowed to do half the stuff Ariza does. Apparently even Jermaine Taylor might be better than Ariza, at least from what I saw tonight. Everybody keeps talking about this phantom "sharing the ball" and Adelman's so-called "equal opportunity offense", but somehow it always ends up in Ariza taking 25 horrible shots a night. Which I wouldn't mind if he wasn't so frustrating to watch.
He need more anneal,be patient ,guys,I think he will become a real start some day,on the other side ,I think he should make more efforts!
if i was ariza, i would be LOSING confidence from the way i have been playing this entire month. He has rarely done anything positive offensively, with all this freedom, for him to "get better."
I agree with your takes on Ariza. As bad as he is shooting, he is making plays that enable us to win. Have you guys already forgotten how Ariza made Kobe look human with that game in LA? (I think Ariza stole the ball 4 times from Kobe, if I recall correctly). Bottomline: without Ariza's contributions (the good, the bad, and the ugly) we would have 4 wins instead of 9. All IMO.
Meh, how many shots (outside the post) Scola and Landry get depends on how many plays are run for their excellent midrange game. How the opponent plays defense impacts every player on the floor. Why single them out? Lowry has a very good midrange game. As Shroopy pointed out, he's younger than Ariza and has some room to develop as well. His shooting from beyond the arc has improved this season, quite dramatically. That tells me he has room to improve there, and I think he can improve other aspects of his game. Air Bud? The guy is getting minutes because he is producing. You say, "destroy his confidence by throwing him into the fire," but he's in the "fire" already. He's a better shooter than Ariza. He clearly has better handles than Ariza (it's not even close). It doesn't matter if he's "a freaking rookie" if he has the talent and produces. Chase's biggest weakness is his defense, and I've seen improvement there. Why not run more plays for him when he's on the floor, with or without Trevor? Do you think he's going to flip out? I don't. I think it will improve that confidence you mentioned. And Ariza and Brooks being "the only players who are counted on to "create" things" is, with all due respect, crazy. AB obviously is a creator, but Trevor?? Come on! I hope he develops that ability. The problem, from where I sit, is that creating is as much an innate part of a player's game as it is something that can be developed. While Ariza can improve in that area, it simply doesn't come naturally to him. You make a lot of flat statements of "fact," but with all due respect, I don't agree with a lot of them, and you might consider being a bit more open minded.
