I'm a devoted, optimistic Houston Rockets fan. It used to tear me apart when they would lose, but I take it all in stride. GO HOUSTON!!!

Rockets fans are spoiled brats. I know, cuz I've been one since the days of Sampson, Dream, McRay, ect. What you need to do is step outside for a while and look at it from a different perspective. I moved to DC three years ago (Rockets are still, and always will be, my favorite team.) and I've been exposed to the Wizzards... a horrible organization destined to lose every year. No matter how hard they try, or how much talent they get, they NEVER have winning seasons. How many teams in the league today have won championships??? (rhetorical question.) The Rockets are 9 games above .500 and in the playoff picture. They have talent <cough> yao <cough> that looks like a future dominant force. YOU CAN'T GO THE FINALS EVERY FRICKIN YEAR!!!!!!!!!! just enjoy the growing/changing process. Who knows. maybe we can pull a '94 Denver in the first round and win as an 8th seed... who knows!

    patience......

For me it was probably 1997.

I think at that time we were making all the right moves.

I dont mind not making the playofs..just as long as the team is building towards something.

Right now Im seeing a gift from god in Yao Ming....and a pretty crappy team surrounding him. That frustrates me.

This year every other game it seems like....we punk some teams and make me increase my expectations and then flail in other situations.......just looking for consistency...

Well, I've been out of the country for the past two months and only been able to keep up with the team through box scores in the USA Today. I've noticed that it's been much easier being a happy fan when I don't have to see the team actually play and hear all the complaints afterwards on here or 610. Right now, I'm just happy to be back and see them play the Lakers tonight. So to answer your question, I'm a happy Rockets fan right now, but I'm sure it won't last much longer.

When there were still a few shooters left in the league, and enough of them were Rockets to make full use of spacing under the low-post, kick-it-out, center-oriented offense- and make shots they should make. Seeing the ball never touch the floor as it worked its way around to the open man with the best shot- I think I can trace the demise of happiness to the departure of Mario Elie. He was the guy I associate most closely to the 'raging days' of the franchise, Olajuwon notwithstanding.
