The thing I don't like about tanking at this late in the season is that it really feels like giving up on the team and the players. It's like dangling that playoff carrot for most of the year and then snatching it away, just so that the team can get a No. 11 pick rather than a No. 15. It just sends the wrong message to the players IMO.

I understand the Brandon Roy argument of course, but there's always a chance of something like that happening. We could get the No. 11 pick but the guy we really need could be at 8, and if we get the 8, he may be gone at 7, and so on.

That's why if a team tanks, it should just do it early on in the season and do whatever it can to get a top 3 spot. At least that doesn't feel disingenuous to the players and to the fans, and the payoff is really worth it.

If not, I'd rather see the team play out the season with a winning attitude, and the coach to do what he can to make that happen. That experence willl build team chemistry and help the players more in the long run.

I don't mind if the coach wants to play the young guys, he can play anyone he wants, but these threads are stupid. Does anyone think that RA or Morey are going to see this thread and say, "Clutchfans approve of us changing our lineup, lets do it."

I fully expect RA to get a good look at everyone on the roster, I think it may have already started. Didn't Armstrong get some minutes during the middle of the game against New Orleans?

I'm sure Adelman and Morey can look at the standings and make the correct decisions for themselves. I'm just tired of these daily threads about tanking. And this thread is about tanking.

Our schedule is pretty favorable till end of season, we can definitely make it if one of em other teams get on a little losing streak

i voted for the last one, being that there's no way we're gonna do anything with the roster we have, martin was a good sign but has been struggling, hill hasn't played, and jeffries sucks. i say, play the season out, we'll end up losing most of the games, not because we're tanking, but because we suck right now.

    a healthy t-mac + yao + role-player > current roster

Whether we like it or not, we are already tanking. :(

I would like to see Hill get more playing time. There must be a reason he was the 8th pick in the draft.

    Maybe they need more practice?

Well, by that standard, nothing on clutchfans truly matter.

I just want to get a gauge on what fans think now that the Rockets are no longer in the midst of the playoff hunt.

I voted for the Rockets to play to win every game, because that's actually the best way to prepare for the future now.

I say give most of the minutes to:

    Chuck/Hill
    Scola/Hill
    Trevor/Bud
    Martin/Bud
    Kyle

and tell them to play their hearts out to make it to the NBA Finals!

Odds are that Shane and Brooks will be gone this summer. At this point in the game, they are just "trade bait walking."

Also, contrary to the consensus here, I believe JJ is trash and will be used as filler in a S&T this summer.

No tanking please, now is a good time for the Winston Churchill speech:

"We shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender!”

Who regrets tanking in 84? I'm just saying....

I'm not up for "tanking". But if they want to give the young guys more time to see what they have, then I'm all for it. Isn't this what we did with Brooks last year?

Play to WIN ... but play with younger players ... I agree with DD on this one. Playoff or now, let's start developing some new weapons and preparing for the next season

You guys are missing the point, we are NOT a contender, the object is not just to "Make the playoffs", the object is to be a championship contender.

So, what is the best way to get there? Clearly we are not one this year, so why not start next year early, and gets some young guys some seasoning.

Use these last 25 games as an extended training camp....play the young guys, rest the old guys, and get ready to reload in the offseason.

This year is more meaningful if it is played as a preseason for next year.

I wonder how many people voted to go full tank mode yet complain every time RA inserts a lineup that we've never seen before, thus costing us a particular game...
