Actually, those of you saying the OP answered his own question are wrong. The question is regarding WHEN the rain will STOP, not "How long is it supposed to rain for?" "Tonight" is an acceptable answer. This important note has been brought to you by the letters "R" & "C", as in "reading comprehension". Totally agree. This happened to me about 62 times today on the Beltway. If you're gonna be "Joe Super-Duper-Mega-Hyper Careful Driver", do it somewhere else besides the left lane. Some of us would actually like to, y'know, get to where we're going.
how much did it cost and is it necessary for them to come out and inspect the house? we're not in a flood prone area, but you never know.
We aren't either, but last hurricane season scared the crap out of us. My wife takes care of that portion of the bills but I want to say it was around 250.00 or so. The catch is you have to pay it up 30 days prior to hurricane season starts or else they won't insure you for that year.
Flooding hitting Katy area bad right now...co-worker just called in from 1-10 and Hwy 6....had to abandon her car and hitch a ride home.
cool, so did they have to come out and do an inspection? or do they just ask questions about the home like car insurance? the reason i want to know is so i can ask for work off in advance. as per the 30 days, i always thought you can always get it regardless of when hurricane season starts. it's just a 30 day waiting period and that's all.
30 days applies until hurricane season I believe - at least that is what our agent told us - our home did not have to be inspected as we already have home owners insurance through the same company
Good thing there wasn't any when I was driving. People just hit their brakes for no apparent reason (while staying 5 car lengths behind the person in front of them). And I'm the safety hazard? You actually believe this? If everyone slowed down, you'd have exactly what transpired this morning, a freaking parking lot. And don't assume that driving faster than other cars and driving carefully are mutually exclusive. Besides, I wasn't being a speed demon this morning. Heck, I wasn't even driving the speed limit, for crying out loud. Stay outta the left lane if you're not willing to push the right pedal thingy under your foot. KTHXBYE.
I'm sure the driving conditions were impeccable. Visibility for miles and miles and miles. I should get one of those cars that has the puddle-locator or one that tells you you're going to hydroplane before you do. What year/model is yours again? Oh wait, lemme guess. Your source told you there were no puddles. I'd agree with you on normal days. Not on days like today. With storms like this, there is no reason to not be careful. You have no idea when you'll hit a spot that could cause you to hydroplane. If you were riding my ass today, you would have been in a wreck, guaranteed.
just b/c driving conditions aren't perfect (or in this case, bad) doesn't mean you can't drive with a little sense. in my particular situation this morning, the guy was in the middle lane of the freeway going about 40 mph (nothing wrong with that). i was following along at a 4 car lengths distance when out of the freakin' blue, he puts on a hard brake, with NO ONE in front of him or big puddles for that matter. not only did i almost hit him, the driver behind me almost hit me. so i decided i wanted to change lanes. and of course, before i could b*stard did it again. if i could somehow find justification for why he did it, i wouldn't be so pissed. you know, now that i think about it. he must have been rubbernecking the stalled vehicle on the left shoulder lane. if that's teh case, it pisses me off more.
On the other hand I had a guy flashing his lights at me when we were 25 yards from the toll booth and there was stop and go traffic everywhere. MORON.
typical street flooding on my end of town. i was stuck in my car for about an hour in an elementary school parking lot, unable to get to work or back home.
