This isnt New York or Philadelphia..we should never boo a hometown team as long as they are competing hard and giving it all they have...
When Adelman Plays Battier for 35 minutes and Budinger for 16 When Hayes tries to dunk or lay-up with 3 defenders around him When Ariza Bricks 3 ptrs just because he can When Brooks plays 1 on 5 and Ignores the new guy K-mart When Jared Jeffries lays up the ball when he can clearly DUNK IT When Scola excessively flops When Brooks tries to split the defenders with bounce passes and fails When Bill Worrell makes way too many excuses for rockets poor play When the dancers wear too much clothing When That Stupid guy proposes on the big screen and she's Ugly When they lose to the SPURS When they lose to the Jazz When they lose to the Mavs When we can't understand the Chinese advertisement When we celebrate too many holidays and Lose When rich guy in lower bowl brings a hot escort girl and Finally when Les Alexander comes to the games and wears no socks with penny loafers...
I can think of only 3 situations: 1. The team clearly, obviously, is dogging it and not giving an honest effort - for the second or third game in a row. 2. A player has done something or said something intentionally to disgrace the city. A making a mistake or bad choice is one thing, but knowingly sticking it to the fans is another. 3. The team blows a massive lead in epic fashion by punching itself in the face the entire 4th quarter, and you are honestly wondering if they're on the take. Sort of like the 2009 Houston Texans.
Man you guys are wacky about booing if a team is sucking Boo them it don't matter who's house it is - Boo fee is included in the ticket price and it's not a big deal to boo the home team. I love the Rockets but I will Boo them at will and cheer them in the same game.
Do not boo the home team if they do not quit. Winning or losing is not a only factor to determine everything in sports, but I guess that noone boos the home team when they are winning.
from the Nuggets/Lakers game I caught some relevant commentary. Breen: I understand fans have the right to boo, they pay their ticket, but how do you boo this team? Marc Jackson: No, you boo them. They're just like any other team. If they're not showing up, and they're not prepared for a big time challenge, this Nuggets team, you boo them. JVG: I agree with Breen. I don't see a lack of effort. I just see a team being whipped right now because of aggression by one team and poor ball handling on the other end. I don't think it's a lack of effort. Hey, you should stand and boo and throw things if they're not giving effort. Marc Jackson: So should a team be booed if they're not taking care of the basketball? JVG: No. ------------------ As it relates to this Rockets team, I'm inclined to go with JVG. This team plays hard, and for the most part plays smart, but without the talent, it is going to be hard to win basketball games. Now, if next year, the talent will be there. If next year's team merely goes through the motions, or doesn't play hard, then I'd be inclined to boo them, because at the very least you should try hard. If they're playing hard, but have stretches of not playing smart, I'm not so sure. Is there a certain level of talent where playing smart is to be the norm, as to be the exception?
