Some coaches do empty their benches for sportsmanlike reasons, but most NBA coaches just don't want their starters getting hurt. That's basically the only thing stopping NBA coaches from torching another team by 60 or 70 points.

WOW. Did you cut-n-paste from the email, or did you type that yourself?

    If you cut-n-pasted:
BAD SPELLING! "Deptartment", "sportmanship", "recieved", "tonights"??? I wonder what level of education the "Athletic Deptartment" peeps have to misspell so many words.

My friend scored 100 points on me in Madden. What did I do? Quit playing Madden.

Your son has two options. He can take the easy route like I did and quit. Or, he can bust his ass, and practice until he makes something of himself in football. He might land a scholarship or two.

There's not much to gain in Madden.

You're only partially correct: fear of getting starters hurt.

But only as a result of retaliation for running up the score.

Look man, here is a legitimate solution to solving your problems. Take your nephew out of the football team and put him on the cheer leading squad. This way he avoids taking a beating like a man, but can still be involved in the game of football in some degree.

Just make sure his squad doesn't cross/talk **** to one of those hardcore "Bring it on" style cheerleading squads...

One time our freshman team was getting drilled, and we resorted to getting overly physical....we got trounced..but....I felt I got my pound of flesh.

When you go into buisness for yourself, its not about the kids any more.

why not go impart them your outrage via a barrage of expletives.. while subsequently wagging to them the old finger of shame.. and really show them how it's done...?

Awww how sweet. The Woodlands let OR score 2 td's in the 4th so it wouldn't be another embarassment for those poor ole OR kids.

As bad as it is to get the score run up on you, I think it's a worse thing for kids to see their parents rage on the sidelines.

My theory has always been play until the game is over. But do so with the 2nd and 3rd stringers let those kids play and have fun..If the coaches was running up the score with his starters than he is out of line.

But if their 3rd string is whooping your 3rd string than so be it those guys never play let them play some football and not a dumbed down version.

Nothing more boring than run run and than run on 3rd and 10...have some fun

I've played on some bad BAD football teams. Getting trounced is just part of the experience. The next week you beat a team 14-7 and you already forget. Most kids on the freshman level just want to get their stats in, see their name in the paper, get some stickers on their helmet, hope maybe 2 or more girls noticed them.
