At his peak, which of these players will Carl Landry most resemble?

  1. Chuck Hayes: He's old for a rookie and still cannot create his own shot.

Best comparison so far. He is a smaller but more athletic Vin Baker in his prime.

He is Kenny Thomas but better in every way. They do remind me of each other in how they are built and how they move. I think the Vin Baker comparison speaks more about what he could ultimately be statistically.

I agree. Carl would be a very nice player if he develops a back-to-the-basket game. Poor man's Amare is probably the closest comparison.

I hope he evolves to an Otis THorpe kind of player. In the sense that we will get a Drexler type of player when we trade him.

When Carl Landry retires, there will be arguments whether he was better than Kevin Garnett or not. It will be assumed that he is better than Karl Malone.

(OK, maybe he'll be just like Jason Maxiell, but I'll take that.)

Landry wont be like any of those players. his best comparison right now is Amare Stoudamire. both of them are explosive dunkers, can shoot the midrange shot, but they dont have much of a back-to-basket game or good handles. Amare is more explosive than Landry and is a better finisher because of his athleticism and strength, but Landry's a better rebounder.

You talking about the LJ before his back injury? I would be very happy if Landry had that kind of upside. He must develop some sort of floor game and become a slasher and driver instead of just relying on jumpers and dunks. I'm not sure he'll ever LJ's kind of skills.

But if Landry DOES learn to successfully create his own shots at this level, watch out!

If he can develop some post-up-around moves down low:

    Jermaine O'Neal...

you're right, I'm discounting LJ's all around floor game, which was probably underrated.
