In my book, a standing-O is also reserved for players that played their hearts out.

It's just a game, effort is more important than results.

Didn't Steve get arrested for DWI when he refused to take a breathalyzer?

But the fact that they wanted to remain lifetime rockets count for something doesnt it? I think it does, I will absolutely give them a standing ovation.

It seems like after JVG came, all the Steve Haters came out. I don't understand why he was forced to change his game so dramitically to suit Yao's game. I know Yao is really really good, but he cant carry a team like Francis can just yet. Ok, I know I will get some hating for this. Oh well, he is gone now.. and McGrady is here.. I think McGrady just might get the same kind of hatred for shooting too much. Lets see what happens.

I say Stevie deserves a warm welcome back to Hosuton. He didn't leave under any negative circumstances such as Pippen did. He simply had a bad year with the team and it was time for a change.

I went to pippen's first game back in Houston when he went to Portland it was awsome the rockets won by ten and everytime scottie touched the ball 16,00 people started the "Pippen Sucks chant" good times had by all

And he was found innocent, but yes he was arrested.

This will be emotional. When Vernon Maxwell came back as a Seattle Sonic, I yelled out loud "GIVE VERNON THE BALL GP!!"
and he heard me and smiled!
    :(

Members of the 1st championship team were true heroes, they always had love for the fans! Otis Thorpe waved to me at McDonalds.

I believe Steve would acknowledge the crowd.

But they didn't/. Staying with a team isn't just a matter of wanting to. A good half of the NBA would probably like to stay with the team we're at right now.

Staying at team for nearly one's entire career means something. Perhaps you were, like dream, irreplaceable. Or maybe you were a very good player who always fit in with the team (Reggie Miller).

Loyalty is nice. But staying with a team usually means more than simple loyalty.

Standing ovations belong to guys like Hakeem. I won't devalue it by giving it to players who meant less to us.

Compare Isiah to Francis? Really? Isiah is one of the few guards that's part of the 9000 assists club (9.3 career average), shot 45%FG his whole career (best 48%). From 83-87, averaged 10+ APG and from 87-91 had 8+ APG. Both a team player and a scorer; two rings.

MVP of the 1990 Finals (27.6 ppg, 7.0 apg, 5.2 rpg). All from 185lb, 6'1" point guard.

    Apples and oranges...

    My vote: indifference
What will probably happen: nice applause (the game announcer will probably give a special intro for Francis's first visit).

P.S. I also feel that Francis will have a bone to pick w/the Rockets. He'll try and have his best game. Beware!

DavidS, thanks for these additions to my response; my thoughts exactly. I hope the Steve Francis memorial tour is over soon, I think I am going to puke.

Curiosity got the best of me. Sorry, I will try to be more careful next time. You might want to try the Magic's BBS, then you can worship Francis 24-7. :p
