Always been a casual fan, but the 2004-05 Houston Rockets team is what really got me hooked. Sura, Barry, Padgett, Bowen, good Mike James, good Tmac. I just loved watching them every night.

    I was 12.

    Same here.

Its when I really started following ALL sports. Astros, Rockets, Oilers. Its when I discovered the stat sheet in the newspapers.

For me it was when the Rockets went to the Finals in '81. I was 13 at the time. I grew up about one mile from the Summit but my Dad wasn't a big basketball fan and was too cheap to take us to the games (Astros games were much cheaper). I went to one game when I was 9 or 10 with my uncle and didn't go to another game until I was in high school when the Chronicle used to have buy-one-ticket-get-one-free coupons.

1995 when i was 8. it was during the rockets/jazz playoffs series. i was so stupid that when the next season started (95-96), i thought the rockets were eliminated from the regular season when they lost their fourth game. i didn't know there was a regular season and then the playoffs. i also wondered why we weren't playing the same team a bunch of times in a row like we did when i started watching lol

Late 80's. Celtics fan (just like my dad).

Moved to Houston in 89 and became a Rocket fan almost instantly.

I remember watching the championship years with my cousins, but I didn't follow NBA closely because I was like 4 or 5. I started to become an NBA freak around 11 when the Lakers dynasty started. And yeah, I was Lakers fan then.

I watched basketball casually (the championship Rockets teams) but I didn't start following the NBA until the 1997 season and I was a huge MJ fan.

Probably junior and senior year of high school. Senior year was right around the time I joined this BBS for the first time and ever since I've expanded my sports passion to baseball, basketball, and football.

Was like 12, there was a Rockets game on TV and Steve Francis dunked quite nastily on somebody and everyone in the room went crazy. Been hooked ever since.
