Heat Waves - Glass Animals. Has been in the top 100 almost 2 years. I first heard the song on the FIFA 21 soundtrack fall of 2020. Good Song. I know most of those artists, songs are not something you will remember in 15-20 years. I'm pushing 50...most of the new music is so pre-package junk.
I thought it might be one of those cases of "I've heard it, didn't know what it was"...but nope, never heard it.
Finding movies and albums I downloaded long ago that I never got around to watching. The worst ones are when it semi sticks in my head like oh yeah I have the new Smashing Pumpkins album I should listen to that and it was Oceania that came out a decade ago or I see Arlington Road on the NAS that has been there since 2007 and I still haven't seen it. At least with books on a shelf, there is no "last modified" date telling you how long you've neglected something.
Recognizing the artists' names and knowing the songs are 2 different things. Outside of Kate Bush I can guarantee you I've never heard any of those songs unless they're in a tv commercial that plays during live sports.
I was at a friends show last night and the played Wonderwall and dedicated it to me because I hate it. An older guy in the audience told me that it’s good to play stuff for the kids. I printed out Wonderwall wall is about 25 years old. Sure enough a younger guy next to us confirmed that Wonderwall was the same age as him.
I’m realizing the opposite. I feel old but then I find myself getting excited about buying Pokémon cards and a new bike.
I'm getting older but as others said I don't feel old. One thing when I was a teen or younger was I appreciated older people who still learned and grew as people at any age. They would listen to new ideas, work out, try out new things, and the most important part, be willing to change their minds with new info. Working out, reading, new major goals, meeting good people outside your social circle, spiritual growth, basically challenging yourself to grow and evolve as you get older. I still have a lot to work on to be sure, but that and planning to help and give back to younger generations have really helped make me better and I'm looking forward to future years.
Was at another show last night with three punk acts. The opening act was a Gen Z all women punk band with a sound reminiscent of 80's bands like the Circle Jerks and Black Flag. I talked to them after the show and how good it was seeing people in their early 20's playing that kind of music instead of BTS or Taylor Swift. She thanked me and "older musicians" for paving the way for them.
Dam all that i'm still young just had a Birthday last sunday over 50 is not as bad as people make it out to be.
