I've known specifically what I wanted to do from the time I was about 21, though it took me another nine years or so to get up the nerve to actually try. And now that I'm starting to have some success, I regret waiting as long as I did to start. I feel like I would be further along had a just buckled down, thrown caution to the wind and worked toward what I wanted with a singular focus and passion rather than worrying and dreaming about it.

I mean, just yesterday, Tobe Hooper said he hated my work. That would've been so much more rewarding to me five years ago.

I think changing jobs is admirable; lots of interesting people I know have changed jobs.

I'm first into financial security. Don't need much, but hate being poor; never want to do it again. Being a lawyer is pretty decent as far as jobs go. The big firm life was tough; lots of hours and people with skewed views of work and life. Working for a corporation is much more reasonable, and most of the time, the corporation does the right thing and is a honorable client to represent.

Damn. Could have wrote that about myself. To a T. Big gameroom and media room have been in my mind just this past weekend. I would add Europe and Asia to list of travels though.

You could also give that advice to struggling actresses.

Are you gonna be a doctor?

Right now, I just started school to be an x-ray tech. I have two years in this program. I absolutely love school, and I would love to do this for a while, but I'm not sure for how long. I definitely don't think I want to be stuck in a tiny hospital for the rest of my life (by tiny, I mean mid-size...like 300 bed-capacity). I'm thinking I want to go to a larger hospital in a city.

After my schooling, I'll have my associate's, but I'm thinking I'll go for my bachelor's. Problem is, I wouldn't know what to get a bachelor's in, but I would like to have it. Maybe just general science or something, but I don't know. Another thing I am considering is a new position called a Radiologist Practitioner Assitant. I think it's like 2 more years of schooling after I graduate from this program (which would give me 5 years total....because this is my second year).

It's a very good idea, considering your pay can be more than double for going to school for two more years. Plus, I think I'd still be doing what I'm going for now.

I've known since I was ten that I've wanted to draw comic books for a living.

Problem is I have no talent. ;)

i'm thinking you started comics and became a fan of jim lee and mcfarlane when they were just getting started.

    gawd i'm tipsy.

neway... i'm 27. have always been badarse in english. want to do screenplays and that kinda stuff. major procrastinator (sp?). dl'ed the script writing template for openoffice, but still haven't managed to get started though i have the ideas. a beginners writers block or something... i dunno. my voice will be heard darnit!

    edit: btw... nice thread, train.

I still don't know. I might follow in A-Train's steps and just try my luck at forum comic.

A-Train, email me for some good "clean" MEXICAN material George Lopez and Carlos Mencia haven't done... :)

I totally fell backwards into my gig, and apparently I'm doing ok at it, but I still feel like I'm stealing from the company bc I'm getting paid to have fun.

But in reality, this is what I wanted to do...I wanted to get into Finance after watching Wall St in the 80s. Energy just sorta happened bc I was in Texas.

2002, I realized A-Train sucked and I would spend my entire mortal existence trying to be funnier than him.

Well, I accomplished that a year later and now I'm thinking about being an business consultant.

The first time I experienced the wonder of sitting on a recliner eating buffalo chicken wings while watching a Rockets game, I knew at once what I wanted to do in my life.

Almost 20, and I still don't really know what I want to do in life, at least not specifically. I obviously would like to do something involving games, or even just something related to computers in general, but I still don't know what exactly. I've been taking programming courses here at UT, and while I've enjoyed programming a lot more than I thought, I don't know if that is something I want to spend my life doing. I might appreciate it more as I improve my skills and understanding of it, but I know I don't quite have the same passion for it as some of my fellow CS students.

    16- surf bum

    34- settle down
    45- slow down

RMTex -- You said the same thing, but you just had to go and add that crap reference, didn't you? :p

As for me, I don't really know. I'm going overseas soon to teach English, so that will allow me to see more of the world, which I guess is one of my goals.

Longer term, though, who knows. Part of me thinks that building and running my own fishing/wilderness lodge resort would be a great life. It takes a lot of courage to do something like that when you don't have any sort of experience with or connections in that type of industry, though.

A big part of me thinks that the modern corporate culture and the everlasting quest for more money and more stuff is just stupid and something I do not want to be a part of. I like my comforts, though (sports, Internet, etc..) so I don't think there's much chance of me joining a Utopian subsistance farm or anything like that.

    Meh...
