"worthy" is a wrong concept. this is different from football or baseball. the nba allstar has always been fan voting. we are not talking about rashard lewis's max contract here. it's more of popularity than an "honor". i guess that's where we differ. was jordan "worth" it when carter was almost forced to give up his starting spot that year? and in politics, only those who don't think someone is "worthy" question an elected official's "worthiness". if you voted for obama, you'd never question his "worthiness"; if you didn't vote for him, your mentality will always be just the opposite. that's just how any voting system works.
When trying to make this point, shouldn't you at least provide a list of centers who should have started in place of Yao? Plus, we have seen the numbers before, the Chinese vote is less than the votes from the US.
What does "worthy" mean in your definition then? Unanimous voting, otherwise, someone will come out say he/she think who and who are "more worthy" in their opinions. Opinions lead to result, result as a fact, defines whether one should be at some place. Of course you can criticize your current or present president, but simply because you like someone else better, doesn't make the current or present president "unworthy" or "undeserving". If you are saying it's just your personal opinion, and you don't care what others think, nor are you trying to convince anyone, that's another story. But the problem is, you and a few others are trying so hard to prove your opinion is "more worthy" than others. Voting all star or voting president are all opinion based. You can criticize president or all star all you want to, but to claim the result of more people have different opinions than you do, is "unworthy", is kind of "unworthy", IMHO.
He deserved to be an all star every single year he has been in the NBA. His first 2 years, he should have been a reserve not a starter but he deserved to be an all star every single year. Realize 4 centers have to make the all star game. It's the rule. Yao has been a top 4 center every sinlgle year and he has made 4 all nba teams, #4 runner up the years he didn't make an all nba team. Therefore if the pros said he has been a top 4 center every single year Yao has been in the NBA then he deserves to be an all star every single year.
name a few "other great players" whom you think should start over Yao in ASG, year by year. 2003: 2004: 2005: 2006: 2007: 2008: fill in the blanks. Remember: only the centers on the ballot list of that year. Don't use some fake centers like Amare. There are great players in NBA? Almost all of those stars are cooked by Stern.
I agree with you! Things always happen like that, there's so many Chinese prople that hate Yao and vote for other player for no reason. And another thind I wanna mention is that there is a chinese version of NBA official site. We don't need to read any english ecept 'nba' to vote.
Agree! That's exactly what I wanna say! Some of our chinese people do act like that, otherwise Yao will get many more vote.
Was Amare ever on the ballot as a center? The only one that comes to mind was Shaq in his rookie year.
What are you talking about? The NBA All-Star is for the fans. The entire weekend is supposed to be about fun. LMAO at you trying to compare it to political office.
Who did you devote for? Shaquille O'Neal? Do you really think that Shaquille is better than Yao this season? And I'm ashamed for your motherland
I think the best players should be voted in. Is that such a crazy notion? And if the best players aren't chosen, then in my opinion the lesser plays that got in instead are less deserving. I'm not concerned with who the rest of the fans like. I'm not asking for their votes to be overturned. But I can still disagree with them.
Yes, Amare was listed as a center ...which is a crock. If there was ever a controversy, it was a few years back with Shaq when he was in LA. Shaq and Yao were undeniably the two best centers. Both were in the west and both can't be starters. Yao got more votes. Don't hate.
