When Cruz Makes His Move, Watch Out

I think y'all know I loathe Rafael Cruz -- he is a snake among snakes. But I have also always hated the "he flew to Hawaii, with his family!" "He's playing golf again!" stuff about our elected leaders. I mean, yeah, some overdo it, for sure. The way Trump charged me and you for his golf vacations to his resorts made me mad, okay.

But here: Governors and mayors have real responsibilities in weather emergencies to their constituents. They are local executives in some sense. What is a federal legislator representing TX supposed to do in a TX weather crisis? I mean... the optics here are terrible, and this was very stupid of him. But I don't see him abandoning his duty exactly to the US Senate at the moment, (unless he's skipping some confirmation hearings or something right now).

Do people want him to shovel snow or salt ice on TX highways? There are so many better reasons to criticize the blobfish and I don't even mean his neuvo mulleto.

 

Maybe work with Biden and FEMA to get help to the state?

 

Fair. And he could do that by phone from anywhere, but yeah, he should have sent his family to Mexico and stayed with his constituents in the ice, for sure. No doubt about it.

He definitely missed the photo op of have manly boots, a manly lumberjack coat and sitting by his fireplace to conserve valuable TX electricity for the less fortunate. (That's what I would usually expect from him.)

 

Luckily for us, Teddy has rescheduled his return flight from Saturday to this afternoon.

 

seems like Teddy is getting trashed mainly because we all know if a Democratic Senator had just flown away to chill during a crisis, the right wing would be killing that person

the same way Obama used to get attacked for golfing, but then Trump comes and golfs way more than Obama ever did...for many, it’s probably just a case of returning that same energy

I actually agree with the sentiment but you have to factor in the hypocrisy of him calling out somebody else for doing the same thing.

And sorry the optics are just terrible especially when you are always going on the "elites".
