I don't think he would be happy either but Battier fits more with the 1st group, cause he doesn't take shots away from brooks and martin and ariza makes the 2nd group more athletic and quick with lowry and bud.
I agree, and Battier expires next year, so he is more flexible as a contract, I personally hope Trevor is moved in a S&T this summer. He and Battier are redundant, and with the emergence of Chase, I think you keep the expiring contract. DD
If he didn't want to jack up shots why leave LA? They have a lot better chance of winning. He is from there. The weather there is nicer. The money would have been similar except the whole tax thing. The only thing I can think of is he thinks he is a star and wants to jack up shots.
You sure it's "jackin up shot" or "trying to improve"? I have no doubt Trevor came here because he thinks he has a better chance of improving here compared to Cleveland where he would have been on the bench again behind the best player in the game. And Trevor has improved from the beginning of the year - anyone can tell that his chucking tendencies have gone down from earlier in the year. He's a long term piece for the Rockets, and while I will admit I think he's the least valuable of our wings (largely because Shane, Chase, and Speed are very valuable in their rights) I am certain he will be an important part of the Rockets for the future. < Good. >
only because battier is much more mature and can handle it, but it's prolly better that way, ariza is more athletic and this will hopefully reduce battier's minutes, if we get eliminated from playoff contention i say rest battier more, he has a lot of miles on him and we need him for next year
I say you keep starting Battier with the excuse that you want to Ariza a lesser role while he recovers, but that nothing is set in stone yet. As well, I think there is a big difference between Ariza as a role player with the Rockets and as he was with the Lakers. You're expected to do more here. Seriously, I think Ariza still has the oppurtunity to work, improve, and expand his role now, he just doesn't have the pressure to be 'the man'. Besides that, does he really have much of an option? After his performance this year, can he really expect any team to pencil him as the 1st, 2nd, or really even 3rd option, much less the Rockets? No, if he's got disappointment, it should only be in himself. Although I honestly don't think he's got much to be disappointed in.
I like to think about it this way: Ariza of the bench means less shots and touches for Bud in the second unit. Shane of the bench means more shots and touches for Bud. I also like the idea of having a high quality wing defender in every unit on the floor. That will only help our defense.
Your Lineup is pathetic, and there is no chance on earth that Budinger will start over Batteriza, wat u nuts..??
i'd say bench brooks..he was always a great spark from the bench..let martin be the pg..brooks is a liability on D although he plays great D for his size..
martin, ariza, battier, chuck and scola great Defensive team to start and set the tone. of the bench: brooks,budinger,lowry..etc...blazing high scoring powered 2nd unit
Usually older stars turn down money so they can be a role player and win a ring. As it turns out, Ariza is doing it backwards. He's already won a ring at an age of 23 . So now why not go out and improve on your game with a young, rebuilding, yet promising (yao back next year) team? This is a perfect situation for him IMO. He's a proven role player, now he gets to sort of test out what else he can do. I dont think its a situation where he expects to be the 'main cog' like others put it. I'm pretty sure he knows he's not a Kobe. But surely there is a middle ground. Why not test out his own ceiling for a year or 2?
Too much change for the team. It would make getting ay acquainted with the whole team really difficult. but i would still give it a shot. its worth a try
What, pray tell, can Battier teach Chase about lateral quickness? Maybe he can teach leaping skills as well.
Coach Rick Adelman says Ariza (hip pointer) is doubtful to return this weekend, the Associated Press reports. Spin: Adelman said Tuesday that Ariza may be cleared to play either Saturday or Sunday, but that is now looking less likely. If he doesn't play this weekend, his next chance to return would come Tuesday at Washington.
yeah, I heard Morey say on the radio that Lowry and him are trying to get back but the ankle and Trevor's hip keep swelling. It's time to play Hill, Chase, Armstrong more minutes/complete quarters. It's time to position ourselves in the draft.
