I disagree that Dorsey is just a bigger Chuck Hayes. Hayes' strengths are physical strength, positioning, coachability, and rebounding. Chuck can also throw a pretty decent pass.

Dorsey is quite literally a freak. He has the broadest shoulders I've ever seen on a basketball player and he is literally carved out of muscle. Chuck Hayes is strong; Dorsey is MUCH stronger. Dorsey is also extremely fast up and down the court; routinely in college he would catch up to a guy on a fast break and swat the ball away on the lay-in attempt. Dorsey actually erases fast breaks. He's a headhunter, a natural help defender and weakside shotblocker.

Chuck Hayes' defensive strength is his positioning and post defense. Dorsey isn't on Hayes' level of post defense, but he has very long arms and an impossibly strong base. It's possible he'll become an excellent post defender.

In short, Dorsey's strengths are speed, shotblocking, rebounding, and the will to dominate people defensively. He's really going to want to go after people. He doesn't have the training Chuck Hayes has and maybe he'll never understand the game as well as Hayes. But ****, at least he can dunk. He's got tools Hayes never had the advantage of.

And my God, he's just friggin' wide. He's like the widest man alive. This is a guy who can move people.

Lol I laughed when I saw the size comparison. But it doesn't surprise me coming from the Rockets. We cut the 6'8 SG Gerald Green so we could sign the 6'6 PF Mike Harris..............

Now our PF situation is exactly like our PG situation last year..."a glut of undersized PF's"

Chuck Hayes doesn't have defense. All he does is hack people, pout about it everytime he does, and gets fouled out.

I want him gone the most other than Battier. I will be so glad to not have him on my team shooting those ulgy ass free throws again.

It wouldn't make sense for the Rockets to pick two upside players, they needed one guy who could contribute immediatley. Morey already said that Chris Douglas-Roberts' game wouldn't work well with Adelman's game plan.

oh ok havent seen any interviews just yet...but picking at no.33, with that many good players on free fall, isn't it just take the best player possible?

I thought I heard Morey say before the draft at no.25 there isn't a great choice so we'd go for the best player available regardless of need. So if we were going to do that at no.25, wouldn't it make perhaps even more sense to do it at no.33?

the thing I don't get is...we give up Darrell Arthur to get a much worse PF in Dorsey?!

so because wallace was undrafted that means dorsey would go undrafted? seriously...the way this guy statistically projects he is perfect for our team. yes he is 6'7 1/2" but he has a 7' 2" wingspan and 8'11" standing reach...not exactly a runt in that regard.

No, in one trade we got Arthur and Dorsey in the same trade. We then traded Arthur for Greene & future 2nd round pick.

I for one think Arthur's game will not translate well into the NBA. Not sure about Greene.

seriously......did you even read what I said...where did I say we need huge guys...I just meant that we don't value size as much as other teams...and its ironic that we get rid of a 6'8 SG to get a 6'6 PF...

I dont even know where you're talking about with that Korean guy comment...My point was that we don't value size as much as skills and other aspects.

well considering you started the thread ripping the pick of dorsey it made it sound like you would prefer the taller guy even if he isn't as good. sorry for the assumption if that isn't what you were implying.

I know we targetted Greene. However, I thought, that, we only traded Arthur away was because we have plenty of depth at PF and need wing players instead... right?

Now what I don't get is, even though we got Greene, which I really liked, wouldn't Arthur have been the much better prospect? Greene was somewhat predicted to slip, while Arthur was almost a lock in the top 20. That tells something about their skill levels.

I never thought we'd get another PF when we have so many PFs and traded away Arthur because of that depth. Thought CDR/Jordan/Chalmers would be much better trade bait than Hayes/Harris/Dorsey?!

My idea was to do a S&T with Landry once we secured Arthur who is actually a lottery-skilled player, and Landry's trade value is pretty high at the moment.

well id say cdr or deandre, because we need a back up center that can lessen yao's load and we need a sg that can help out tmac and is ready to play from day 1. but hopefully greene gets playing time and hopefully we get gerald back too. landry is looking like he might not come back, its taking from the MLE

Just imagine how good he will be, once Mutombo shows him how to throw the 'bows around and Chuck teaches him position defense.

The biggest upgrade is the Dorsey is slightly taller than Hayes and bigger so is a much bigger target for Tmac to dish off too. Dorsey will also not settle for layups but most likely dunk it home. I think at the prime of dorsey's career, he will average 9-10 ppg if tmac keeps dishing it to him and he cleans up...kind of like Ben Wallace

I just wanna say that I don't dislike Dorsey as a player...its just that I liked CDR/Chalmers/Jordan much more and so obviously whoever we picked instead of them I wouldn't praise all that much...

Well I didn't dislike the Dorsey pick because of his height...it was because of how Chalmers/Jordan/CDR would've been a better pick, and, as well as us being stacked at PF...and how our weakness in the backup SG and backup C are not addresses when there was the perfect opportunity to do so...

don't you think Deandre Jordan would be a better backup C than Dorsey??

For all this widespread talk about how Dorsey can dunk, dunk and dunk instead of layups......yeah, he can dunk............. when he's playing 1 on 0 on a fast break...... But just look at Draftexpress' indepth look at the PF crop of this year, it states that Dorsey is dead last out of all the college prospects in "Percentage of Team's Possessions" at a incredibly small 8.7 % when the second to last player has a value of 12.8% and third to last player has 13.1%".

Dorsey also ranks dead last in assists...how does that fit into Adelman's passing system at all?!

This suggests that Dorsey barely touches the ball in his team...so all the talk about how much he can dunk it like a mad cow is quite frankly rubbish cos even though I admit I really like his dunking, chances are he'll have like 1 dunk per 48min
