:D Why does 30 feel so old?

My wife is always saying: "We never do anything on New Year's Eve". She always wants to get dressed up and go somewhere fancy - but why? Thats easily a $500 evening of crowds, obnoxious drunks, and driving home at 12:01 am because Im about to fall asleep.... I can't stay up and party like I used to - I need $$$ for diapers and baby food.

Now that we have a little girl, I think I can put her NYE wishes on hold for at least a few years.

I got one in Sugarland. At least it's closer to home, and the good part is we finish playing at 11PM because of neighborhood noise restrictions. It's a party a childhood friend of mine puts on every year at his house. This is the 5th straight year I've played it.

I'm playing at a retirement community in the Champions area. Fun. But it's 6-10 so I can actually be somewhere else at midnight.

Speaking of New Years Eve, whatever happened to Dick Clark? I know he had a stroke a few years back, but I thought he recovered. It just isn't the same without America's Oldest Teenager.

im considering packing up some camping stuff and driving out to big bend tomorrow. a friend and i were talking about it tonite in a half joking/half serious manner - it is totally spontaneous and crazy, but it just might work!

i havent been out there since march 03 - for awhile i was going at least once a year. backcountry camping on the south rim is about as good as it gets.

I'm going to shoot some guns in the air at midnight. That way people will know I'm serious about having a good time on New Years.

I'll be singing karaoke with my friends after lunch for like 5 hours, then head for dinner with family.

The wife has to work tomorrow, so I'll take care of the boy till she gets home. Then I have to see if my neighbor takes my tickets for the Rockets game (if not I'll be giving them away free here). Once tickets are gone and wife is home, I'm heading to a friends house to help with his NYE party. We'll let my PS3 be DJ and start the festivities. Small party, so it should be fun.
