moving to san antonio six years ago buying a house there Moved back to Houston a year ago. One of the best things I've ever done.
Location, I guess. He said 3 lawyers in their 20's are going to share it. I pay $1,900/month right now, but only because I can write off a room as my office. I can see a $300/month being a little tight of a margin, but at least at some point the house will pay for itself!
If that is the actual value of the house right now, harris county is butt ****ing me with property taxes!
Ya know, there are 4-500k houses in Houston these days. Here, I just found 19 others in the same zip code. http://search.har.com/engine/doSearch.cfm
This is my biggest mistake so far in life: I was into music back in the late 70s, really dedicated myself as a guitar player, had my own band and played regular gigs(top 40s). I met an older guitar player(in his late 40s) in a guitar shop, we jammed together and became fast friends. He had a really hard and tough life with his childhood upbringings and substance abuse. He was an amazing guitar player, he could play anything from country to hard rock to jazz, taught me a lot of licks and how to be a better player. He had this original 58 Les Paul Standard(the year Les Paul put Humbuckers pick up in the guitar). One day he knocked on my door at 1 am, he told me he found the Lord and he is going to preach and gives up all of his belongings, he wanted me to have his Les Paul, I told him I couldn't take his prize possessions, he insisted that I'd take it. We parted ways and I never heard from him again. I played on for a few more years but in my second year of college, I just lost the zeal for playing and I wanted to serve my country so I enlisted in the Airforce. I sold all of my gears and the Les Paul fetched $1800.00 from the local guitar store in Miami. This same 58 Les Paul today worth between 130ks - 175ks !
Buying a fully-loaded car.. the various options added to ~$7k, which now in hindsight, it's evident I don't use as much to justify the cost. But that doesn't hurt as much like when my Burberry trench coat ($1.5k) was stolen from the cloakroom of a party in Upper West Side/Manhattan. Other people had far more costly Versace and Prada ones, but no, the damn thief wanted my coat.
'Only $300'? That's awesome. I think you should change your mindset. One of my best friends is a self-made real estate millionaire. He's moved on to owning apartment complexes, but when he had houses, he was ecstatic about getting $100-$150 over his mortgage. Real estate is long-term, and you really invest for the equity that the property builds over time. Go for 6-8 more houses.
Yep, me too. At least we are negotiating with a buyer right now. Hopefully, we'll make it up on the next house.
POM ugh... its cost around 8k for layers and classes, ill finally be finished in March. I'll be moving to LA in a couple of years because of it.
folding@home on my BFG GTX 295 video card in summer temps.. well got home and it was dead. back then it was about $450. To make it even worse.. it had a lifetime warranty.. yeah.. too bad BFG is no longer in the video card business so I guess it meant "their" lifetime.
Not flossing my teeth and not regularly seeing a dentist. After a two year absence I decided to see a dentist. Lots of cavities that took about $2500 to fill.
