Love seafood and Cajun. A bowl of seafood gumbo is one of my all-time favorite dishes but gumbo is damn hard and time consuming to make.
Mexican - sort of. The best variety of that is "New Mex". (red or green) Tex-Mex and Arizona-Mex aren't bad either. I like southwestern food in general. I don't like American food that much. Burgers and pizza and chicken tenders with buffalo sauce are all good, but I don't like "homestyle". My southern upbringing apparently didn't "take". That stuff all needs to be mixed up a little better, seasoned, and sauteed with cheese and green chiles. Then maybe I would try it. My fellow caucasians don't always have good taste in food.
I am a big fan of Lebanese/Egyptian food, especially here in Houston and a few places in Dallas. Warm grape leaves, pita, hummus, shawirma, it's all good.
I don't think I'll ever leave Texas (or maybe the southwest) solely because of the lack of good Mexican food. You can get American food anywhere, so that's probably my second favorite, just because it's so freaking easy to get - even out in the middle of nowhere.
Exactly, excluding Indian from you list is a travesty. You haven't experienced great cuisine until you've eaten good Indian.
I've eaten Indian food all my life. I've gotten bored with it. That being said, no food to me tastes as good after I haven't had it for a while as Indian food. ... especially mom's cooking...
You're Indian? I had no idea. My favorite food is definitely Italian, followed closely by Indian, Thai, and Mexican.
I have to go visit my parents almost every weekend for my mom's homemade desserts and homemade indian food...
Wow no love for Sushi? I always go for sushi if it's that time of the month that i can afford it. It's followed by Dim Sum. Then it's thai. I just like food that are clean and not too heavy generally. One more thing, you i don't think you can group all the Chinese food into one style. There's the Cantonese, Sichuan, Beijing, Shanghai all have their own unique dishes and styles. If you go to a "authentic" Chinese restaurant, the ones with food from Beijing would have different dishes on the menu to that of Cantonese, which will have different dishes to that of Sichuan, which will have different dishes to Shanghai dishes.
I also have an addiction to Pho for some reason. Not sure why. One thing I hate is the fact that I've probably never eaten "authentic" chinese food. Not the buffet garbage - the real stuff, made like they do in China. At least I don't think I have.
word... i vote for all. for those of you dining in Houston, check out: http://www.B4-U-EAT.com - it's all about Houston restaurants. You can write your own reviews or read others. They have links to restaurants and other food related stuffs!
Are you being sarcastic? I mean, how many different ways can you arrange tortillas, beans and cheese? I'm a big fan of anything Asian but the fat kid in me still loves Chicken Parmisian. I say fat kid bc it seems like that was all I ever ate when I was a fat kid back in the day. "I think all Scottish cuisine was originally based on a dare." If it's not Scottish, it's crap!
