Ben Gordon had a force named Omeka too along with Charlie V. He was allowed to roam and create shots for himself. Luther was in a system with two other outstanding guards. If he was ALLOWED to roam the way Ben was.....we would have never had the chance to pick him at 24, plus ILL would have never won that many games. He played in a different system...different kind of team.

On the Rockets...he will never be allowed to roam the way Ben does now with the Bulls. I'm not saying that he's better than Ben Gordon....just saying that he's that type of player........Luther Head is good.

When I see this kid for some reason I think of Sam Cassell, with fewer assists, and fewer turnovers, but a higher 3-point percentage.

Sam's rookie year he avged like 17 min 6-7 pts/game , about 2 rebs and 2-3 assts / game, but Sam shot like 25-30 % 3pt/fg. I think similar stats for Head would be good, so long as his 3pt percentage is +35%

He'll be about like Steve Francis but with a brain, which could be dangerous.

I think its such a great pick, Mike James is iffy and Sura is old and slow, we needed this.

I expect him to come off the bench. I just don't see him as a starting PG in this league unless he has PG skills that nobody knows about. I do expect him to make a solid contribution.

Steve Francis was a max player. I guess I will be happy if Luther Head is smarter. A step in the right direction for the Rockets. We need to add more young blood to the fold. and have them mature with Yao and TMac, and built a dynasty for years to come.

Head will be the butt of every joke around the league. Whether he plays well or not, he will still provide more material to more comics that anyone since God Shamgod.

if he's not a natural point guard then what is your definition of a natural point guard?

a natural point or "true" PG is someone who plays the position. head never did play PG at Illinois and i never saw him take a lot of ball-handling duties. He can put the ball on the floor in the half-court but so can a lot of people. it's not a knock on him but it's a fact. he probably isn't the type of guy were going to just hand the ball and let him run and direct the offense. he's a very good player who can do a lot of different things (score, pass, rebound, defend) but not a guy who you'd feel completely comfortable with running the point for more than 10 min. a ball game.

I'm just being realistic. Let me go on the record as a guy who loves Head. My girlfriend will testify that I also love thumbs, fingers, toes, heart, liver and a little cheek. ;)

I do not hate Luther as a person. I hate the Rocket's choice of Head when we had so many needs and so many opportunities to eliminate at least one of them.

Don't worry, I think going to play for a contender like Rockets is a lot of guys' good situation, so I believe we're gonna fill the holes by free agency.

I doubt it....considering Head is 2 inches taller, a better ballhandler, and actually plays defense (House plays absolutely none). House may be a better pure shooter, but even that we can't judge until we at least see a few games of Head vs. NBA competition. But in any case, House is a poor comparison.

The comparison HAS been made. I saw it on some draft website where they had the NBA comparrison for each player. I forget which site, but you're right on the money.

Van Gundy gave reece gaines a fair shot. he even started him at small forward at one point when the rockets went on a trading frenzy a couple of times. and he did absolutely nothing. Reece Gaines is a bust. He is allready on his third team in like three or four seasons into the league. Van Gundy's reputation for not playing rookies and 2 or three year players is overrated compared to Larry Brown. at least van gundy lets the rookies see limited minutes, compared to larry brown, where his rookies on detroit see no time at all.

I think someone needs to start a poll:

Who does Baqui99 hate more, Luther Head or Clarence Weatherspoon?

Does he hate either of those guys as much as JBIIRockets hates Kevin Willis?
