oh crap, i guess i gatta make payments on time now. i got a little scared when someone said my credit would take a hit on late payments, but someone else said its true if its late by 30 days or more.
Sure, a lot of people get into debt with their credit, but if you're smart about it you can avoid it. Personally, I build my credit by charging as many of my expenses on my credit card and paying it off completely every month.
mine was 730 last month.. now i maxed out all my credit cards coz i got a new gf and its down to 630 so yeah it sucks!
You can get your credit report for free. www.AnnualCreditReport.com You have to pay about $15 for a credit score. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_report
When I bought my new car 7 months ago, it was 700. But it has probably lowered a bit bacause of my bad spending habits* since then. I would guess its like 670 now. *See gambling problems
832 Holy crap Parents hooked me up with my first CC at 15. They told me to take friends out to eat, or gifts on it every so often. As I got older and moved away they always said get a new credit card at Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc... Especially when you get that initial 10% off. Tuition went on CC, loans covered the payments (for a time). Them stressing the importance of credit was huge and will payoff big when I decide to do something with my life. I will make sure and do the same for my kids. But I guess if I have a spender or daughter... Scratch that.
Here is another question about obtaining credit. I noticed on many, if not all, credit applications I have filled out they ask questions about employment and place of residence. If you change these a lot does it affect your ability to obtain credit?
It does have an impact on your score, however it is extremely minimal. It won't affect your ability to obtain credit.
Sorry to boost up an old thread but I have another question. I have several student loans that each show up as a separate account on my credit score. If I consolidate these loans, will it make any difference whatsoever? Will it then show up as one account? How does that work?
hahahah. i loved the subtlety of your comment. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TBtpyeLxVkI&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TBtpyeLxVkI&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I think its 707 right now. I haven't had a credit card for a year yet, and all my payments and bills have always been on time.
