If you are a fervent Practitioner then You are practicing fervently, therefore you are following the teaching of your religion fervently. So you would be performing to what is taught or preached by that religion. You cant be fervent and not be following the edicts of ones religion. If you are not following what is preached as the right path or way then you are not fervent.
I call bullsh!t on that. If you look at some of the tele-evangilst out there, they are all fervent about their religion. However, it doesn't mean they practice what they preach. In fact some do just the opposite. And don't even get me started on those catholic priests in Boston.
so, what I want to know is if Yao is wearing Rockets pajamas under the Pope gear, or is he wearing nothing under that?
yep. a korean i know went to china as a missionary, but had to claim the purpose of his trip as medical. People who DO declare themselves as missionaries are typically turned away, and those who arouse suspicion have been 'bugged' (as in hidden microphones) in the past. don't know if they still do that now, because nobody says they are a missionary... not to my knowledge. yao surely isn't catholic, unless he's hiding it (understandably, if so). he might be atheist or he might say he's buddhist by philosophy (as opposed to being a practicing buddhist). in my experience, a lot of people from china/taiwan/hong kong say they follow buddhism by philosophy, not practice.
oh yeah, pope yao ming is definitely rocking the pajamas under the robe. nice job with that one. wink2moochie, how do you tell somebody is catholic by looking at 'em? some religions are easier to spot than others (hinduism, islam, judaism, etc.), but catholicism? i'm not catholic, but if anybody replies no molesting jokes please.
Do you guys know that in some famous temples in China they require the new monks to at least be university graduates? Damn it's hard to get a free bowl of rice these days.
my guess he is that wink2moochie is catholic and it's a matter of wishful thinking. i don't know what religion Yao is and frankly, I don't care. that's his business, not mine, but i would think it was kind of funny if he was buddhist or taoist or something. it always cracked me up how you could talk to any ignorant good ol' boy in houston and they loved hakeem olajawon. a black, vegetarian muslim from africa. i really think the only way it could possibly be more amusing for rednecks to make an idol out of Hakeem would be if he were gay. Now we have a new center who brings in a whole different cultural back ground. On a serious note, I really think that probably has an impact on some peoples thinking. You really grow to love your star player and you have to think people would lean towards being very tolerant of their belief system/cultural differences. I wonder if there was any less muslim backlash after 911 in Houston than the rest of the country due to Hakeem being one of our favorite sons. that would be an interesting thing to do a study on. lastly, i wish the season would come because these off-season threads are really getting out of hand....
i was just thinking about what it might be, its not like there is anything better to talk about during this downtrodden slow boring uneventful offseason, i think he might be confusian maybe based on his very forgiving optimistic attitude.
