The Lakers are soft. They have always been with their current squad through their back-to-back title years but their competition weren't good/healthy enough to get to them. They need an enforcer. With Artest's skills deteriorating at an alarmingly fast pace they now have two subpar starters (Ron and Fisher) which could also hurt them in the plyaoffs.

They are too old and done like the Celtics & Spurs have been for the past couple of years...

    They'll be right come playoffs.

    http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/258853-kobe-yes-i-broke-the-offense

Given a do-over, Phil Jackson would have substituted something along the lines of "crank up" the offense, rather than saying Kobe Bryant had to go and "screw up" the offense in Sunday's loss. "I used the term screw it up, not in terms of being in error or a mistake, but crank it up another notch to try and get us back in ballgames," Jackson said. "That's our fourth-quarter action. That's how we win ballgames." ... Bryant, though, said the Lakers coach got it right the first time. "He was right," Bryant said. "I totally broke the offense, but I did it intentionally because I felt like we needed to get something started because what we were doing just wasn't working."

The Lakers fans are finding the excuses that their team is sucking bad and does not play to the high expectations. Seriously, with a stacked team like Lakers they should be winning 60-69 games this season. Now they are struggling, the excuse? Coasting? Bored?
Come on, Kobe knows that, Phil knows that, in fact the whole Lakers know that they need the number 1 seed, they need the home court advantage, in fact the last 2 seasons without the home court advantage they won't have won it all.
Lakers need to win and they need the number 1 seed desperately but they are losing and performed under expectation. The reason? Not they are bored or they are coasting or they are old. The reason is Kobe Bryant.

Did Goodbug leave the forum or something? Now that he's being exposed for all the **** he spew? Usually he pounces on threads like this like he does Kobe's dick. It also looks like he'll lose to T-mac 1 and not pay the $

Phil Jackson actually having to coach a mediocre team? This can't be.

Gasol is on a cold streak and the Lakers are being exposed as a two horse show.

Kobe isn't the same as he was. I think everyone can agree on that. Is he still an offensive beast? absolutely. but at this point in his career, you want him to take all the shots - this effectively takes away higher percentage shots from Pau Gasol. Kobe cannot carry his team like he used it. He will have his moments, but he cannot sustain it over the regular season, especially against superior defenses.

kobe knows he's not the same player as he used to be. even said he's seeing glimpses of the end of the tunnel during a recent interview.

i think it's a lack of execution from the supporting cast. kobe needs them now more than ever as he gets older.

Glad somebody had the guts to come out and say it.

Kobe has always been a chucker, when he was younger he had the tools to take that many shots and still be an efficient scorer and a good defender. Now he's just getting older and less efficient. But he's still a chucker. Don't get me wrong, he's still a very good player, but is he a top five player in the NBA? Not anymore.

He had amazing games for those 81 and 61 point games.

As for all the game winners last year, if you look at some of the opponents they came against, the only reason there was even an opportunity for a game winner is because the Lakers weren't playing hard the first 40 minutes.

Other players haven't taken it well either. PJ's "ownership" (as you call it) of players is overrated. The last several years, his cranky habit of calling out players publicly has backfired sometimes.

He's praying to his Kobe shrine, begging him to stop being a chucker, and hoping his lover will "turn it on" for the playoffs.
