Can't really judge a player playing scarce few minutes. Bench Bud, and give his minutes to JT for at least a number of games. Then, you can make a fair assessment of a player.
I'd agree with you if we were closer to .500. How many more games should we lose waiting for him to come around? Hell, I believe Jefferies would have more of an impact than Chase at this point.
Like Ron Artest? And Chase is struggling but he is not the reason the team is losing.....there are bigger issues like injuries. DD
I think 7 minutes of general cluelessness was enough. It's one thing to pull a guy for making a couple mistakes (J Hill) and a completely different thing when they guy is totally lost (JT).
I say give JT a few games. He hasn't integrated himself in RA's offence yet, or shall I say RA hasn't integrated JT into the offence yet. It's better than what Bud is offering at this stage.
Do I smell trade bait?? Chase needs to turn into a Kyle Korver.. then the next step would be a Ray Allen.
I am sure that they are giving him a lot of practice time. If he doesn't look good there, he won't look good in the game.
From what I've seen in the last few games it looks like that Chase is forcing on offense and taking some bad shots. He needs to relax and let the game come to him. That's especially important when he's in a shooting slump. Stars can shoot themselves out of slumps but not role players like Bud.
That's just flat out not true. Some guys don't perform well in practice, but when the games count they elevate their game. Look no further than Jordan Hill's summer 'progress' -- he was getting abused by scrubs. He didn't make the rotation coming out of training camp.. Morey had to tell Adelman to play him. Yet, he's playing big minutes and has a big role in anchoring our defense. JT deserves more than 7 minutes. You can barely break a sweat in 7 minutes. Give him a handful of games to get comfortable and set in his role -- give him a FAIR shot. You're not losing anything by sitting Budinger right now.
You can't be serious with your 7 minutes statement. Lol. It was just one game, but in the one game JT got substantial pt (starter against Kobe) he did very, defensively and offensively.
Time for C-Bud to ride the pine and give others a chance, Taylor specifically. He can earn his playing time back, bit by bit. It is obvious that he is not going to shoot himself out of this slump and, for some reason, he is playing horribly. Enough is enough.
As a player, you have to work on your weakness every summer. If you're not getting better, you're getting worse. Chase should have been working on his short drive, pullup game. Also, he should really work on his 1st step dribble move because teams are really crowding him now. Defensively, its really about angles and competing with him. That goes to scouting reports and stuff like that. Chase has always had his desire questioned.
Unfortunately, Chase Budinger's career is headed on the same path as Luther Head's. His confidence is shot. He is playing timid. He is rushing shots. Adelman is giving him playing time to help him recover. He needs to take advantage of them before they are gone.
Chase is not struggling. He is a one trick pony. If his shot is a bit off, He is not worth a pile of dung droppings.
If you say that one player can cost a team a game, then will you put the blame on most losses on C-Bud? I say this because he has big ole zero on offense and defense thus far. I think you are missing the point that even DD is noticing, namely that if C-Bud is stinking up the joint, then you might as well try somebody.
Chase is looking like Luther Head part Deux You know what's even more scary? The fact that this is only the regular season and Chase has yet to play in a playoff game yet. I can already picture the 2007 playoffs all over again IF we were ever in a playoff game with Chase. I like Chase a lot, but you can't always fix mental issues.
What's worrisome about Chase is that he's been coached his whole life on his shooting. He comes from a fluent family that was able to afford private basketball/shooting lessons. I'm not sure how much his shooting form/shooting percentage can improve. I would imagine his numbers will get back closer to last year's numbers but there was hope eventually he would be even better than that. He's not a project/"untapped potential" player most second year guys are either. He is a solid role player if his shot is going in. But if it's not hitting at a good percentage, he just isn't useful most nights as his overall game confidence takes a hit when his shots aren't falling. The knock on him in college was he didn't show more than just wanting to be a role player which is what he is here. But he's going to have to separate bad shooting from the rest of the game. It's only going to get more difficult as more tape is studied on him and teams are able to know exactly where he likes to shoot, what bothers him most when guarding him, and knowing that attacking him on defense when his shot is off is a smart play, etc.
Can we send Chase to the Vipers for a few games? He needs a bucket of cold water and that might do the trick. The guy is just helpless out there. His confidence is shot. He's not playing nearly good enough defense to make up for his current offensive slump. Bud moves well without the ball, has come to understand Adelman's system pretty well, and uncorks a great pass from time to time, but defensively he's in the same crowd as Martin and my man, Luis. Very challenged. (I'm trying to be nice!) Send him to the Vipers for a stretch! Play Lee a hell of a lot more!
