Last year he did a lot more than just shoot jumpers. Aside from the occasional Miller -> Bud cut layup that's all he does this year.
Silly bean. You've been around since 2002. You can figure out which poster was very high on each of those players, before they all crashed and burned.
If he is not hitting his shot he becomes a big time liability. He is novak version 2.0 almost. He's like a slighty upgraded version. We'll say novak version 2.1 I like the guy and was hyped on him last year. I do think his shot will start to fall and there is something to the sophomore jinx. He will be fine on the shooting side but I do agree that his defense seems more noticeable. Not sure why I didn't notice it as much but it's like he is dancing along side the guy and also giving the offender just enough space to do whatever they want. It's weird to watch almost scripted looking. Maybe his ankle really is hurting and he is now having to face that reality of 82 games and playing with pain ,mental focus etc Some guys are good but when they hurt even a little they kind of shut it down.Maybe that's the case. All I know is if he doesnt get his crap together and start making shots he either needs to sit and get better or sit and get traded.
i think this is as good as budinger is going to get. he's a shooter who jumps high, thats about it. He's still a valuable player though.
Interesting point. I had some old videos from last year and did some side by side comparisons. The most striking difference I noticed is a change in the trajectory of his shots. When he was making his shots, the parabola was much greater than this year. To use the vernacular, last year he shot, "rainbows" and this year his parabola is more like the, "clothesline" variety. I'm no ballistics expert, but it just seems that the higher parabola has a better chance of hitting the mark due to the increase in the angle of entry to the basket. So I'd say, "Bud, relax. Go back to shooting "rainbows." Just my two cents.
To be fair to every player on the roster, Aldeman should give C-Bud minutes to JT. The way Bud is shooting, JT couldn't do worse. In addition, the latter has better defense and is one of the very few players on the team who can create his own shot.
So on that note, what is your guys' thinking on when we cut back on Chase's minutes or consider trade? I know it's incredibly premature but I was just interested as to what your guys thoughts were on that. It is undeniable that he has been a nugatory presence this entire season and while shooters gotta keep shooting, it doesn't bode well that he can't do much else aside from that.
I'm guessing it's the fluctuation in the rotation, and knowing that he will be pulled quickly if he's not hitting. Or, he's undersexed.
Adelman should cut his minutes down to 5-10, until he gets his shot back. At this point we are better off having Lee or Millar take that three ball, never mind once Brooks gets back.
Besides his cold shooting, Budinger doesn't seem to be moving as well without the ball. I see him trotting around instead of cutting and running to open spots with authority. I'd like to see what happens to Bud when Lowry returns to the second unit. Maybe having a PG who knows how to push the pace and get him the ball where he wants it will help him break out of his funk.
