He's not that good. Never thought he had much upside. Never understood why so many here jumped on Budinger's bandwagon. He'll play better eventually. Bud never struck me as a guy who was really dedicated to improving himself.
I don't worry about Chase's offensive game. His passing is still there, he gets himself open quite ofter, away or under the basket, he rebounds well. Eventually he'll make those open shots. If Lowry can make the shots, no reason to think Chase can't. What I'm worrying more about him is his defense. The defensive rotation and awareness is still not there. That will hurt his playing time.
Never saw the crazy upside either. He's a volleyball player who can hoop pretty well. He does not have that raw potential that a lot of guys have coming into the league. He'll become more efficient in shooting, and that's pretty much it.
Bud needs to stop responding to Matt Bullard's call to party. This partying with Matt while laughing at guys' pants sagging off has had a negative effect to his game.
Morey says Bud is a "Confidence player". I would like him to drive to the hole and make things happen. relying on shooting wont work all the time. He has to draw fouls, rebound and contribute in other ways .
This. Sometimes when your shot isn't falling down, you gotta resort to other ways of scoring, like driving it in. If he can do that and keep the defenders honest, he'll have better looks at shots.
he needs to develop his handles--and and be able to put it on the floor and dribble drive to the basket--which i dont believe he can do what so ever--and it shows-
I'm still on the Budinger bandwagon. Plenty of room for all y'all doubters to jump on. I too will be excited when he goes 5 for 5 from deep; until, then, I'll remember he's capable of that, and better, when he's 100% healthy. Let's hope for his-- and the rest of the team's-- restored health and confidence.
Something I noticed lately is that Adelman seems to be trying to figure out how to utilize Budinger in the offense. In some games he plays the facilitator role for the second unit, while in others he's strictly off-the-ball. Having multiple roles could be one of the reasons he seems more tentative lately, though in the long run it's probably better for his development.
That is a great point, last year he was strictly told to shoot it....now they are asking him to drive more, and he seems to hesitate a bit. Very nice thought Pepprmint. DD
Thanks. As fans, it's sometimes easy to forget how young Budinger is and how he's still figuring out different facets of his game. I get the sense the coaches are more patient about getting him to develop and expand his game, and are less worried about his current cold shooting.
Then your original post is stupid cuz no one has any idea what curse you are referring about. What is your point?
Chase didn't improve at all in 3 years of college and one year of the pros. He has no room to improve other than his defense. He's never going to get a quick first step. He's not going to develop great handles. He has less upside than Boki.
