I agree...if Boki was going to show anything, then he didn't show it to us on our team while he was here. That is the only place it counts. I seem to recall some quotes from Rudy back in his day that he didn't think Boki knew what the hell was going on when he was in the game. Oh...but he was great at hitting shots in practice when he was wide open. That helps...NOT. If Boki is going to be this great player that some of you claim he will be, then it wasn't going to be with the Rockets. He did little to nothing in the 3 seasons he was with us to prove otherwise. Maybe a fresh start on a 2 win team will do him some good because, given their record, they can afford to put Boki out there and let him stink thinks up so he can learn from his mistakes. It may just help him get better. There is no way the Rockets were going to give him that chance. All you fans would be biatching about how bad Boki sucks if he was getting 25 minutes a game consistently. Najera is a better player than Boki ever will be in my opinion. But, let's see how it unfolds. I would love to see Boki become a good player. Maybe in another 3 seasons, it may be possible.
Of course you will. I believe you said the same things about Air Langhi. EG was a different story all together. He had his chance....errrr....chances. He flushed those chances on more than one occasion. He got almost 3 full years to prove he was worthy of game minutes. The fact that two possible HOF coaches decided to keep him on the bench for the likes of guys like Bowen, Padgett, Weatherspoon, Piatkowski, Hawkins, Morris, Norris, Wilks and Oakley speaks volumes. Guys with the skills you're assigning to Boki do not get primarily garbage time minutes for 3 years straight. Face it Dakota, Boki was a lottery ticket and the Rockets didn't match any numbers. BTW, did you just make an indirect comparision of Boki to Peja and Dirk? OMG, you did!
HOF coach ?!?!? Are you f*ckin kidding me....hahahhahahaha. What has Van Gundy done to warrant HOF credentials???? Rudy, I can see getting the praise because he has 2 nba championships but Van Gundy?!?!? He went to the finals once and other than that hasn't even done anything remotely close to warrant hall of fame talk. And also to answer the argument you guys are using with the fact that he had 3 years to play that's a total lie. His rookie year he had hernia surgery which he didn't totally recover from until his 2nd year and also we all know very well that Rudy doesn't play rookies that much. And his 2 years with Van Gundy is just ludacris. Everyone here knows that JVG has the most whack ass substitution pattern in the world. This is the coach that played charlie ward the first game he came back from the IR just to dump him back in the IR. I definitely think that the coach the past 2 years had a big affect on boki's playing time. Even if he played awesome in practice, JVG wrote him off in his eyes already. We'll see in charlotte if he proves all the doubters. I'm more than ready for the "I told you so" posts.
Boki sat on the bench his first year as a 20 year old Rookie, then in his 2nd year we got JVG and he got a little playing time, but not a lot. Then he comes into his 3rd year, and plays decently, starts hitting the 3 ball with consistency, and WHAMO onto the IR he goes, for no reason. Yep, Boki got a fair shake....... How many years did it take Jermaine O'neal to get good? My point is that Boki is a 6'10" athletic player who may develop, why are we getting rid of him for nothing? And, why have we not given him a chance to play. I would like to have seen Tmac at the 2, and Boki at the 3, rebounding would NOT be a problem, and neither would foot speed. But, alas, he is gone..I wish him luck. DD
His name was Boki. I don't want to look into the eyes of the man who doesn't like someone named Boki.
Wow, he's 6-10 now, quick footed, and an awesome rebounder? I heard he spits fire and bangs supermodels in his spare time too.
Actually Rudy was quoted as saying he was closer to 6'11" during his rookie year. He was a decent rebounder, and ball handler, and is quick, he is not good at staying in front of his man on defense, no doubt. I am sure you guys that think he is garbage are enjoying this, but those of us who are clearly superior judges of basketball talent know better. DD
Yeah, D-Dak, he's a great rebounder. You're right. He averaged a whopping 7.1 rebounds per 48 minutes for his career- which, if he were a starter, would put him roughly among the 26th spot in the league this year, among small forwards- hey that's only 4th worst among starters, right?! That's of course only 2 rebounds/48 minutes short of Maurice Taylor's average this season. august company. Let me guess, you're going to retort with "yeah but I watched him play and he's real good at it"; maybe so, but you're also citing his "foot speed" as a reason to keep him around. His footspeed certainly didn't help him when he opened up an EZ Pass lane to the basket whenver he was in there for the last 3 years.
Bryce Drew, Mirsad Turkcan, Dan Langhi and Boki Nachbar. Could someone please stop the Rockets from drafting anymore white guys. Other teams do it well. The Rockets just don't know how to.
I said possible. You do understand the word 'possible', right? JVG's career isn't over by any means. If he were to shut it down today, yeah, he wouldn't make it. Would you care to share with us how the rest of his career is going to play out Ms. Cleo? Fair shake? Chance to play? Maybe I'm delusional, but I could have sworn I've seen a dude with Nachbar on the back of his Rockets jersey in 16 games this year, 45 last year and 14 the year before. So after 75 games over 3 seasons you're still saying that Boki hasn't gotten a shot? His skills have basically been looked over and underdeveloped? Jermaine O'Neal, Boki is not. DD, I wish Nachbar the best, but I think you and a great deal of other posters on this board are in serious denial.
Perhaps all the BOF's are part of the same Bokanovsky Group. teeheee somebody put me out of my misery.
I'll give you Posey, but blaming the Rockets for KT and EG is just ridiculous. 1. KT was TRADED FOR Posey, who was MUCH better than KT has EVER been. 2. EG was given second, third chances. He blew them. Blame the Rockets all you want, but it's just r****ded. 3. Boki has shown virutally next to nothing. He's been inconsistent throughout his career, but you blame it on his confidence from not playing. This board and I don't have the patience to watch the Rockets rebuild and try to develope ROLE players. Nachbar was a bad defender, he made a LOT of mistakes on defense, he was too inconsistent with his jumper. There was no reason to believe he would turn into something. Not trying to start a debate, but if he was black would you feel the same way? Gaines hustles more than Boki, plays better defense, has been just as inconsistent with his shooting -- if he was traded, would you blink? Think about it.
yuou flip flop your opinion so much you've probably got your "I knew he was garbage" posts lined up too.
Like Rudy, JVG and CD? Apparently their 50+ years of NBA experience tell them Boki can't cut an 8 or 9 man rotation.
