I heard rumors of Pat Bev buying out with the Jazz. bringing back a former rockets "legend" in play for vet experience?
I would like to know if we are tanking one more year or are we really trying to win as many games as possible?
It's be an organic tank again. This roster is just too young. 4th year - Porter, Mathews 3rd year - Tate, Martin 2nd year - Green, Sengun, Christopher, Nix & Garuba Rookies - Smith, Eason & Washington. Only EG & Nwaba have more experience than the above and the consensus is that EG needs to go ..... I expect they'll struggle defensively again just not quite as bad as last season. There will be more effort with Wood no longer "anchoring" the defense. Overall, if they improve between 5 and 10 wins over last season and improve individually and conceptually as the season wears on, I think you'd have to call that a win. They are gonna get up and down the court in a hurry, the offense should be fun to watch but half court offense & defensively I expect them to have their struggles. Vegas has them at 25.5 wins good for 3rd worst and that sounds about right to me. Considering this is the last year that they control their own draft destiny and the cap space going into next offseason, I'm content with this outcome. That won't cut the ketchup & mustard in 2023, they have to start winning then. Interestingly .... Vegas still has Brooklyn's over / under at 55.5 I think it's a safe bet to take the under on that one.
Very well written, great analysis I hope we keep the confidence going in a young Jalen and Jabari. Those losses can take their toll, it will be interesting to see how KPJ responds to three consecutive losing (Tanking) seasons.
This is also why I think we ultimately keep both Ego and Boban on the roster. It's not like we will be spending the salary cap on meaningful vets otherwise, at least not until we are sure of the direction we are officially heading in.
i hope they do not tank ! I would expect them to improve as much as 30 games, especially if they get a great starting Center! Y
I'd be okay with it so long as neither of them ever saw the court outside of garbage time. Now would that be okay with them?
Rockets not making any moves until KD trade and/or Sixers trade for EGo. Otherwise Roby waiver pick up a no brainer.
One footnote to Porter - while he is in his 4th year technically, because he didn’t get a lot of playing time earlier in his career - he is really still working on finishing his 2nd full year of games because he is 130ish games into his career. I bring that up because players typically see a leap after their 3rd/4th year but I think in Porters case he probably would expect to see that leap later this year/early next year.
Can you clarify this - To 30 wins. or By 30 to 50 wins. A 30+ win improvement has happened only 5 times in NBA history going back to 1969. It took huge happenings to trigger each ....Five best single-season turnarounds in NBA history | Sporting News Canada
I like how straight forward Stone and Green were in their interviews. Stone with the "We're not 1 piece away"
My guess is that we're locked and loaded now, with the exception of cutting players or trades for picks. I see there being 12 players getting minutes being: KPJ, Green, KMJ, Jabari, Sengun, JGup, TyTy, Eason, Tate, Gordon, Gary Bird and another centre ie Boban. Question marks over whether Gordon, KMJ and Boban will traded. The rest as far as I'm concerned shouldn't see a single NBA minute unless I've missed something or someone. And I'm quite OK with the 12 going into the start of the season.
Stone needs to trade for Myles Turner AND Matisse Thybulle so Rockets can become ELITE defensive team. sounds like a great fantasy football waiver strategy. Seriously, I love it. btw, if next season Garry Bird can shoot over his career average of 37% from 3, and continue to average a steal a game, he’s gonna be a valuable role player asset. He’s our best waiver pickup that I can remember. Shot selection sometimes off and shot can be streaky, but the defense and hustle means he still contributes even when his shot’s not going. He’ll be 26 next season so about to start hitting his best yrs and we have him under contract for 3 more yrs at $2 mil
